Default Robin Williams found dead, apparent suicide

    He was 63, seemed younger.

Dead Poets Society will always be one of my favorite movies, yet I don't think I've ever seen it more than once.

I looked it up a few times before I actually thought it was true. Goes to show you that you never know what battles someone is facing internally. That's why it's important to always be nice when possible, and it's always possible.

Damn. That guy had SO much talent.

I'm old enough to remember Mork & Mindy and his starring role in Popeye. Yet it was Dead Poets Society & Good Will Hunting (along with his Live at the Met standup) that made me such a fan.

    RIP

I thought my mate said Robbie. I was gutted when I realised it was Robin.

I wasn't really a fan of his standup or his blockbuster comedy films but he was awesome in the early days and his dramatic acting roles were great. Comedians are the most depressed people on the planet.

I liked him in Good Will Hunting and he played decent in many movies, overall a great guy. He will be missed.

We were just having this discussion at work too. Expressing yourself in comedy as a means to fight the sadness inside?

This is one of my favourite Robin Williams moments. Not because it's a particularly great set (the rehab joke at the end is funny) but it was just a cool thing to do. It's a TED talk that was having technical difficulties and he happened to be in the audience so he jumped up on stage to keep people entertained while they worked things out. Supposedly this was totally how he was. If things were dull on a movie set he would go into improv mode and keep spirits up. Or if he was on a plane or something he would just get up and walk around talking and joking with everyone. I remember in the Patch Adams movie there's a part where he's talking about how you should start conversations with total strangers because every single person is truly fascinating if you can get them talking about something they're passionate about. It seems that part of the character in the movie is right in line with a part of his real personality.

World's Greatest Dad is probably my favorite one of his movies. Nothing much to say. Just tremendously sad to loose someone like that.

I have very vivid memories of my dad drunk in the living room of the house I grew up in sitting in this old ass recliner going off during Mrs. Doubtfire about how Robin Williams was gay.

“I always call them on their bluff. I’m the guy who says ‘Jump!’ when there’s a guy on top of a building who says, ‘That’s it, I can’t take it anymore, I’m going to jump.’ Are you kidding? Why are you announcing it? Shut the f**k up, have some dignity and jump! You’ve got the crowd,” he said.

    sad news,
I wasn't a big fan of some of the really zany stuff,
but otherwise some good comedy acting.

Why do I only find out this news from a poker forum?
Maybe I am getting too out of touch with the world. hmm.
but does show how useful these threads can be.
