very nice, someone told me and I had the table open during HU. I dont know the guy but very nice for him. I saw him starting with like 4:1 lead but dropping down to a big underdog. Great that he won, gg

I used to (1999-2002ish) play in an Unreal Tournament clan with a truly wicked player named Rizen. Guy was a precise Capture The Flag player that had a wicked sense of mid range Offense AND Defense in one player. He was like a net stopping enemy progress which would penetrate deeper and deeper into enemy territory suck that I had little to do on Defense so I could advance a bit towards offense. Plus he was a Gentleman. Lost track of the whole clan after a nice "clan reunion party" 2 summers ago.
Rizen. If you see this and you were my [AoG] and [4F] clanmate please post here. It would be nice to talk. And yes i am still on 56K. and no i do not clan match any more since the whole world is on Broadband and I now ping much more crappily than when my life was UT on line and I supertweaked every aspect of my PC.

Been playing money poker for 34 years and decided in 2002 to try that TX Holdem game on TV. Then found Pokerstars in Summer 2005. Still not an overall winner but i am on a good trend and nearly there.

Dave!!! Wow a blast from the past. Do you still keep in touch with any of those guys? I haven't heard from anyone in the last few years from that group. I had the most fun playing UT with that group, and it's awesome to run into someone from back in those days. I don't clan match anymore either, but that's mostly due to playing too much poker
Great to see you still kicking. I still have no clue how you played as well as you did on just a 56k connection.

on 56K i was not accurate but i was a devious mofo.
my heartrate is like 140 bpm. been like 4 years. Even tried sneakybuffalo once in a while to find ya.
Those were wicked fine good times.
Were you there during the training day when i got bored during Rottin_flesh's lectures when i launched 6 grenades str8 up and disrupted the training match and we all got drunk?
god i could recount a few of our matches kill for kill and i cannot even remember trivial shit from last week. I miss it.

i am all aquiver.
FYI Rizen was a sexy bitch n so was I. we played female models cause teamwork required different voices so teammates knew who we were.
O and BTW i suck at poker. And it ain't cause of my connection. The party I mentionned was at Hammy's home in NJ and we met his fiance'. Me n John (BigJohnnyWadd/etc) showed and me him and Hammy played UT (we brought our PCs) for no more that 10 minutes cause it was cooler to get drunk and yak than to play UT.
That was an East Coast thing.

Yeah, that was a great time. I felt a little left out sometimes not being on the east coast with you all. I remember John, Rotting Flesh, Hammie, all the different guys. Was definitely some great times, I can remember some key matches like they were yesterday.

right.
can you hit someone with a full load of green goo and translocate into the home teams flag previously carried by the poor deceased with a 300 ping?
I think not.
This isn't about poker for $160K anymore.
It's about 2 repressed adolescents with on line guns and we bonded.
I hijacked this thread. Live with it and look down my avatar wenches shirt n be happy.

if you know what Unreal Tournament is, and you understand the nature of clan matches you would know it's anything but cute.
It got downright nasty at times. To get a feel for how much we played together, I'd say that for 1 year me n him played 1 of 3 weekly clan matches together as the 2 defense guys. Once our clan got good and broadband became common and we picked up a LOT of new players I didn't get to play much. But I was often on the "B-Team" that our A-Team practiced against.
Plus I would estimate conservatively that we "bumped into each other" on our favorite public servers for no less than 100 hours of play time together. Probably more like 300 hours.
Plus Rizen hosted our clan Bulletin board page i think. So without wanting to sound like a little girl, Rizen meant a lot to me back in the day.

o puh-lease.
You didn't bring up anything about poker except to whine that this is a poker forum. Did you mention anything about the match? Did you request a hand history? did you ask Rizen what was easiest / hardest in the tourney?
No. you just rudely try to cut off old friends. what style n grace.

He was "the New Guy" for a while in our Clan after we formed with like 6 core guys. It was a VERY short while tho. He fit right in and really picked up his skills fast. I believe UT was his first FPS shooter which made his ramp up time quite amazing.
But the UT we played was team based so our team performance was FAR more than the sum of it's parts. He was very good at waiting for opportunity then OWNING idiots who did not scan for ambush.
In most individual ways, I was pretty weak at the game. I was just a good strategist who made a lot of good snap decisions for huge saves. It's kind of amazing how much credit I got for doing so little at times.
