LOL well I see that over six months after I was (ahem)
'banned' from FTR, that you people are still talking
about me. WTF ?

This post is to clear up a few misconceptions and
rumors that many of you have apparently taken at face
value (without knowing the facts), accepted as gospel
and thrust into the forum for discussion and cheap
comedy at my expense.

CHAPTER 1 >

YES !!! I borrowed a shitload of money from a lot of
you on numerous occasions. Have I ever denied this ?

Since the running joke seems to be the fact that I
used to hit up a lot of you for 'bones'...(lets get it
all out in the open shall we ?) I have no problem with
that. I am the one that dug this hole for myself in
the first place, and accept full responsibility for
opening the door for this campaign of slander and
ridicule. Its a beast I created by being impulsive,
irresponsible and opportunistic. This is not
disputed. Serve it all up I can take it

Did I have a ton of outstanding debt to more than a
dozen FTR members ? Yep ...I don't deny it for a
minute,...never did...never will. It's an
embarrassing chapter in my poker career, and was
certainly a contributing factor to my well publicized
'meltdown'/departure here.

I got too deep in the hole, and borrowed money from
whoever would ship it my way. I was on a horrible run
and was playing over my head and got into
trouble...what can I say ?! Its not as if I have ever
made this into some kind of secret, or hid any of the
details of my life from this community. In fact quite
the contrary. I shared intimate details, anecdotes
and evolutions of my life with this community without
a second thought on multiple occasions.

But back to the issue at hand...

At first it was just a handful of people...$50 here
and there...small loans that I would religiously pay
back as promised on time. Then gradually it was $200
here... $300 there... and the next thing I knew I
realized I was in deep shit. I had quit my job in
L.A., broken up with my girlfriend, moved to Vegas and
things weren't going that well for me...the job in
Vegas I left L.A for didn't pan out as I had hoped,
and I was walking on thin ice to say the
least...trying to make things work under more pressure
than many of you can possibly imagine. My personal
debt was far beyond the debt I had accumulated to my
poker brethern, and I soon found myself borrowing from
Peter to pay Paul and feeling slightly
desperate...looking for a way out or a 'quick fix'

I concede that I did...to a certain extent abuse my
'reputation' on FTR to borrow funds on many occasions
over the course of several months. I carelessly
played outside my means and exploited my good standing
and 'reputation' at FTR to fund my poker playing only
to find myself deep in the hole.

Of course I regret the whole thing...thats a no
brainer. For all intents and purposes I redefined
'bad judgement' in every sense. It was a turbulent
time in my life...coupled with tremendous financial
pressure, and I admittedly exploited my then good
standing on FTR in a failed attempt to solve my
dilemma. Guilty as charged

With that said...

What troubles me are the implication(s) that I am some
kind of 'scammer'. That I perpetrated fraud and stole
money and vanished from the face of the Earth and
never looked back laughing all the way to the bank.

It's really odd how quickly most of you 'turned' on me
since I was (ahem) 'exiled'* (see footnotes) from FTR.
I'm at a loss to be honest. I mean you have guys
like Justin Bonomo who stole literally hundreds of
thousands of dollars multi accounting...then you have
legitimate SCAMMERS who go out of their way to rip
people off straight up on AIM or spam or whatever...I
mean serious SCAMS designed to fleece people out of
their money...then you have David Williams sucking on
some 50 years olds feet and ass in some porn
video....then you have dirtbags like Jamie Gold not
living up to his word with his backer...and then you
have password hackers etc etc etc and of course Rada
who flat out SMOKED Ilikeaces86 for thousands of
dollars and Im sure a few others. So WTF ??? It was
really a huge eye opener watching fellow FTR's who I
had developed what I thought were friendships
with...turn around and jump on the 'trash the fuck out
of rippy' bandwagon.

It sure didn't take long to see what some of you were
really made of deep down. I can honestly say I never
envisioned the level of spiteful and backstabbing
comments that I did after I left FTR. Especially
after all I contributed over 2 years to this community
which incidentally I helped BUILD.

Lets get one thing perfectly clear once and for all...

Every penny I ever borrowed from any of you has been
paid back in FULL ! That is a fucking FACT. There
might be a 20 or two floating around somewhere from
someone I lost contact with....but the FACT remains
that I am an honorable person with my debts. My WORD
means everything to me and always will. I take a lot
of pride in my personal integrity. I'm a 42 year old
man who has been through a lot in his life and made
many many mistakes...but the ONE thing I am not is a
'thief'. I CHALLENGE anyone to say that I ripped
them off EVER ! I may be a screw-up and an emotional
basketcase and seasonally bi-polar...but I am NOT a
thief and have never been one.

If someone steps up on this thread and says 'oh yea
Rippy you still owe me 20' then I will ship it ASAP
without question.

NOBODY has earned nor will ever earn.. the right to
call me a liar or a thief or a scammer. I may have
abused my notoriety/visibility to solicit loans, but
every loan I ever made was paid back AS PROMISED
(sometimes late but ALWAYS re-paid in full) I dare
anyone to prove otherwise.

CHAPTER 2

When I stumbled across FTR there were a mere handful
of members. I joined as member # 45

flopturnriver.com was a true 'community' in every
sense of the word. My 1st post here was telling my
heartbreaking tale of leading a WSOP qualifier with 11
left (1 seat for the 2004 ME) and coming up short.
The replies were thoughtful, insightful and genuine.
Hostility, sarcasm and flaming simply did not exist
here.

As FTR's membership gradually grew, I took a lot of
pride in being a 'charter' member here. I always did
my best to contribute positive feedback and was always
happy to engage in strategy discussions.

Over my 2 year tenure' here, I contributed many of my
views on MTT, SNG and Heads Up strat without
reservation...happy to enlighten the un-enlightened
for the sake of pure satisfaction. I went out of my
way to tell everyone I could about FTR and recruited
more members than I can even count. It was exciting
to be learning about poker and getting better and
becoming a winning player and watching this community
grow and grow...but more importantly evolve.

I don't know exactly what happened or how it
happened... but somewhere along the road, FTR lost
that 'community' feel which made it such a special
forum. Suddenly there were a gang of noob retards
polluting threads with nonsense, hostility and
negativity and without warning, the 'snowball effect'
of immaturity redefined the VIBE of FTR.

What had once been a positive venue for intelligent
poker discussion and a haven for a genuine comraderie,
was suddenly conquered by a river of pre-pubescent
misfits with single digit IQ's.

I suppose this metamorphosis was inevitable with the
membership surge, but as a legitimate 'charter'
member, I have to be honest it was sad watching this
community become so disconnected and the quality of
content decay right before my eyes.

It got to the point where I couldn't even post without
an avalanche of flamers lining up to lash out with
insults, profanity and antagonistic flame fests
regardless of content. Any hand histories I posted
were ripped to shreds and any 'ideas' or strats which
I made the mistake of posting were crucified at first
glance. This got old real fast.

For the record (another FACT) I had sent Xianti a
long, detailed PM expressing my disappointment in the
direction FTR was heading and indicated that I was
going to be resigning my membership/mod status in a
matter of a few days.... when SHAZAAM !! all of the
sudden I get 'banned' a couple of days later LOL with
a short note from Xianti telling me how much I have
'abused' my moderator stats by deleting posts and for
some nasty things I unloaded on a certain member in a
thread I was being flamed on. The notion that I was
truly 'banned' is a farce. Xianti knows that I was
bailing FTR well before he made a point of 'banning'
me under the spotlight. Saving face nothing
more...nothing less.

CHAPTER 3

LOL reading the last few threads devoted to me have
been comical to say the least.

I'm going to resist the urge to single out anyone, but
the notion that some of you dipshits have the AUDACITY
to question my understanding for tournament holdem is
beyond mind boggling. Most (no ALL) of the losers
ripping my game are for the most part > donk nobodies
with ZERO final tables and insufficient brain capacity
to comprehend the type of power poker I play. My
grasp for NLHE theory is light years ahead of most of
the imbecils who dare to rip me (behind my back I
might add)

My 2006 MTT Strategy Guide is mysteriously floating
around all over the internet, and not a week goes by
that I don't get several emails from all corners of
the world from random poker players thanking me for
taking their game to a different level and opening
their eyes to previously unseen aspects of tournament
holdem.

Just because a handful of wannabee no-name donks with
no credentials or results whatsoever feel compelled to
rip me out of spite, doesn't change the fact that I am
a PROVEN competitor who can win big tournaments. My
results are not 'world class' by any means...but they
are not to be dismissed either.

I coached AvatarKava (and 3 others) to their 1st ever
large field MTT wins... and my current protege'
(Darius Hemsworth) just took down his 1st win 2 weeks
ago.

My ROI in MTT's is over 100% (FACT) and I have 5 WINS
in large fields. (yes thats WINS...1st place.. not
FT's) I was a single coinflip away from a final table
in the Sunday Million...which is a HELL of a lot
deeper than anyone in the peanut gallery bashing me
has ever been.

LOL no actually ya know what ?? I think I WILL single
out someone >

LMFAO this is actually the post that inspired me to
respond in the first place when I was browsing this
thread.

Fnord always compels me to reply with his dismissive
one liners. This one is a beaut

Coming from a player like 'Fnord', who will forever
have his mouth firmly suckled upon the comforting warm
nipple of 'limit' poker...this critique is nothing
short of meaningless.

Lets face it people, I am a gifted and instinctive
force of nature who is simply unstoppable with a big
stack. My current modest results over 18 months are a
mere prelude to the trail of destruction I intend to
leave in my wake in the coming months.

Fnord is calling my game 'luck' and preying upon those
who are 'not willing to gamble'...hmmmm

The problem here is that Fnord (Brian) is not even
remotely qualified to assess my skills or ability
because in reality he is nothing more than a limit
ROBOT. The man has ZERO tournament
ability/results...let alone even a novices
understanding for NLHE game theory or its principles.

Brians one liner summary of how I 'got there based on
luck and stolen value' is an observation that I can
only compare to a 3 year old mongoloid crack baby
explaining advanced quantum physics to Professor
Steven Hawking

I have always abused, and will continue to abuse...
these over-analytical math junkies who have
little...if any ability to comprehend (let alone
execute) the plays required to succeed and win at big
stack NLHE.

This is why Fnord plays limit poker. Because he is
never put to a 'decision'...he never has to rely on
instict or take any risks. He knows all his odds
better than the back of his hand, but he will always
be a 'grinder' no name who never makes even so much as
a dent in the poker world. Content to grind limit
poker for (X) amount of BB's per hour. (sigh) I can't
think of a worse fate than being a numbers cruncher
4-6 tabling like a bot.

Like everyone else.

Iv know rippy for a while now. he has treated me with nothing but respect. and yes i have "shipped him some bones", but without fail he has always paid me back even if he has to go without....

I firmly belive that rippy is a very gifted player, when hes on form he can mix it with the best (trust me, iv seen). Like me, he plays with no fear, and by playing this way the standard "rules" of BR management just dont matter.

thread and right off the bat, let me just say that the
fact that I have these so called 'sad ass SnG stats'
according to WildBob is simply because I have RARELY,
in fact almost NEVER grinded out single table sit and
go's like some of you spread sheet dorks.

These bullshit ROI stats you are data-mining from
jokescope (ahem) I mean sharkscope.com are a complete
joke. The site founder(s) only recently updated
their site to the level of being even considered in
the same ballpark of definitive accuracy.

This 2% ROI figure they list for my SnG history is a
farce. This figure doesn't include my consistent
heads-up ownage, short handed cash game numbers (which
I KILL on a regular basis 'AT WILL' meaning whenever I
feel like dominating) and sure as hell doesn't include
the countless 18 and 45 man turbos that I sodomize on
a regular basis without lubrication or any measure of
mercy whatsoever.

If you bashtards actually believe that my career SnG
ROI is only 2%, then I have a sweet piece of
beachfront property on the coast of Kansas I would
love to sell you

firstly, thanks for the post

I haven't been around FTR long enough to really know the story behind the story so thanks for satisfying my curiosity

secondly, you need to get some modesty. There are talented people on this forum. Some play poker as good as or better than you. Others have better control of their emotions. Still others are talented at things other than poker like dancing or dealing with the opposite sex or investing in shares or whatever. You asked a rhetorical question why people are ganging up on you. It's because you paint a big target on your chest, "come get some, I'm an irresistable force of nature. You suckers have no idea". I've never been insulted by you. But if I was, even if I knew for fact I was inferior to you in poker, I wouldn't live it down.

thirdly, you made a mistake. You've paid back all the money. But can you appreciate the feelings of disappointment and being exploited? Can you repay for the stress created in the minds of the people who wondered if they would ever get their money back?

fourthly, there are many qualities in life. This includes the courage to take risk, the courage to admit wrong, spontaneity, talent at one's work. It also includes mathematical ability, patience, emotional control, crisis management, diplomacy, and financial management. From your post I can see you value the areas in which you are talented and dismiss the virtues or patience and emotional stability in which you lack. Fnord has made the same mistake in overvaluing his good traits and downplaying your strengths. Will you do the same?

finally, I take no sides. I'm not close enough to anyone in the "in group" of FTR. I've never met anyone here in person and I only want to meet maybe 10 at most. I'm just giving my 2 cents, because well I see your post as an invitation to give 2 cents. If you want to challenge my to heads up NL, I respectfully decline in advance.

marty, it's good to know that you've humbled a bit since. I also find it funny that you don't mention how big of a dick you were to people (in tones not unlike the passages quoted above), how you threatened FTR with a lawsuit when the admins didn't want to go through all of your posts to delete them, etc.

However, like others have said, just drop it and move on (applies to everybody).

I predict that this thread will end in a lock-- and not by me.

Your problem is that your head is so puffed out by your own ego that you have absolutly no room in there for anyone elses opinion. You make some inspired moves on people sometimes and take down big pot with nothing. You also make some chronic spews. When anyone criticises one of your spews you take it personally and get abusive, presumably because you are such a "force of nature" that noone else could possibly be right. Most of the reason people started to get pissed off with you wasnt anything to do with lending money. It was the way YOU handled criticism that rubbed people the wrong way. I never had any big problems with you, you always payed me back if I borrowed you a few hundo, you just seem a bit manic. Maybe you should see a doctor about your manic episodes and I am not joking. It may improve your quality of life.

I'm with lukie on this one. This is an episode of FTR that just needs to be put to bed.

He's paid you all back. Maybe he is manic. Who knows. Who cares? He is who he is. He got himself into some deep shit and worked his ass off to get out of it. This is admirable. Many people wouldn't have done so.

There are several people, as Rippy states, who really have ripped you all off, but you concentrate on one of the few who work their ass off to pay you all back. You sling arrows at a man who has already been pierced and is just trying to crawl away from the fight, and yet you continually drag him back here in some sort of warped of machismo. You want the kill.

You berate him for only playing small-stakes poker. HA HA RIPPY IS PLAYING A $5 SNG! But, wait, doesn't a large majority of FTR play that small? Why do you pretend to know his financial situation? The man lives in vegas, maybe he's got his money in his live roll. And furthermore, why do you care? It seems as if you want him to borrow more so he can play higher and self destruct again for your personal amusement. And it sickens me to think that FTR has descended that far.

But Marty has already admitted his faults. He admitted he had a problem. He worked his ass off to pay you all back where it would have been just as easy to run off as others have done. But still you taunt.

No sir, Rippy, I've no problem with you, and I wish you well. I do believe you could handle yourself better. I do believe that if you could accept some of the constructive criticisms that are given to you that you could expand your abilities by leaps and bounds. As Pelion said, you really do make some inspired n'th level plays that are impressive. But you don't quite have the balance necessary to pull the whole package together. Pride comes before the fall, sir.

Euphoricism....straight up.. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for that post. That was inspiring for me to say the least and I am at a slight loss for words. I'd like to jump in here and say that I have long sinced moved back to Sacramento (almost a year ago to the day) from Vegas. I tried to make it happen but certain unforseen events and obstacles crashed the party and I thought it best to head back to my home town. I had a nice stretch of solid scores earlier this year, but unfortunately a lot of those proceeds were yanked out of Stars to satisfy various overdue 'obligations'......I'm just volunteering that to set the record straight. It was nice to read your response Euph..and OBV I have some psychological issues I guess the current diagnosis now has been defined as a 'manic' persona (woooot) and apparently I am an ideal candidate for extensive psycho therapy and perhaps a daily cocktail of Xanax, Valium and Prozac and all wrapped tightly in a flour tortilla.

Hey Aces...yea I still talk to him every couple of weeks. I have asked him a few times about his debt to you and in all honesty he has been somewhat 'non-commital' in his replies. Hey its really none of my business I would prefer not to get in the middle of it but I do know about this debt of his to you and I can't pretend I don't. I didn't mean to make an example of him as a 'scammer' in my OP, but I wanted to make sure that I am not defined in the same manner as he has been through his own actions. I still talk to Ben and I know he is dealing with his own demons and has his own goody bag full of financial obligations that he is either dealing with...or not dealing with. Thats his decision and his journey and his word at stake....not mine. But its not my place to pass judgement
