So, bailing on WV before a big bowl game, pretty bitch.
Will he successfully instantiate the spread at Michigan? It seems like we're only a couple years away from this offense being "cracked" and loosing it's appeal, like every other scheme that's every come through.
Will he continue the string: Carr owns cooper, Tressel owns carr?
For the number of Big 10 fans here this seems like it should be a big topic.
My un-educated guess. He continues Michigan's traditional history of putting together a good team on paper and under performing in big games (i.e. vs OSU and bowl games).

Michigan leads the series 57-41-6 and yet they traditionally under preform vs OSU? While it's true that they have been this under under performing this decade it hasn't always been that way.
As for Rodriguez, he's a good hire. He's not as good a coach as Tressel but he's defiantly a solid second tier college coach and could become a first tier coach depending on what he does at Michigan. People need to reserve judgment on him for 3 or 4 years until his recruiting classes come in because he'll be playing with a Lloyd Carr built team until that time and it's very probable that he won't have the best personnel to run his spread offense. If he can recruit some Pat White/Steve Slaton type players to run his offense then it could swing the balance of power in the OSU/Michigan rivalry back to Michigan.
And yeah, it is pretty gay that he bitched out on WVU for their BCS game. Carr is still going to coach Michigan in their game, but then again I can see why WVU fans wouldn't want Rodriguez to coach their bowl game.

I'm suprised they went for the vagabond high profile type given the sucess Senator Tressel has had and while the whole Petrino thing is playing out. I'm also puzzled they let themselves get turned down, they had enough time to just find the right guy.
on the spread, clearly we've lost to a few teams that run it but I'm skeptical because the games they (UM) keep losing are at the end of the season when Pat White always seemed to be hurt - you need that real special kid to get away with running the ball a ton with your QB. WV may have won two titles if they could have kept him healthy, and Oregon would almost certianly be playing for one if Dixon had been around all year. Bad weather also a concern in November but I suppose he has some answers there.
In my heart of hearts, I'm envisioning a Notre Dame like fall where they realize legit academic schools just can't compete with us factories and we win 20 of the next 25. After living through the cooper era I think we deserve it.

Bring on the spread, fast qb's and his fucked up defense which will not work in the big 10 against MSU, Wisconson or OSU. I hope he keeps ron english because big 10 football is not like the big east.
God I hope we get Pryor otherwise, Mallet cannot run the spread, he's more of a Brian Brohm then a Pat White, Mallet will probably own in the NFL if he develops but I really don't think he we need a Brohm/another Henne at Michigan.
Manningham left for the NFL too so that kinda leaves our Wide Receiving core with something to be desired. OH WAIT HE DROPPED THE PEN.

Rodriguez leaving before a bowl game has to be about one of the shittiest things you can do to a group of kids who have spent years of their life playing for you and for most of them it will be the highlight of their football lives.
that being said, as a ND fan i think i'm happy with him going to UM. i don't think he will be able to fit in his system very well the first couple years without his personnel. they might not start 1-9 like we did this year...but i can see them going 6-6 or 7-5 which would make me happy.

If WVU hires Bud Foster as their head coach, I will cry and I may never stop.

maybe, i honestly think we will be much much better next year. obviously not contending for a title yet but something like 8-4. our team was so young this year at so many positions, and we keep getting top rated recruiting classes.
