But it's true. If you eat meat butter and vegetables, you're healthier than nearly all renditions of vegetarian or holistic stuff. The whole 'meat and fat are bad for you' is one of the worst things to ever come out of the wannabe health-food hippie cult

That one crazy physics azn was talking about how our bodies are tuned to eat things like sugar and animal fat. How we have evolved to "like" sweet, high-energy things and to like the essentially tasteless fat of animals for n-o-g purposes.

Yes, we have evolved to like it, and to like it more than most everything else. But that does not mean that eating it in quantity is good for us. We like it so much because it was quite rare in the wild, and even long after agriculture was well developed and the standard across the earth, sweet and fat were relatively scarce. So just because our bodies crave it, does not make it good for us. More is not always better.

Err.. It's all about moderation in situations of abundance. It's not a dichotomy, with the average American diet on one side and strict veganism on the other side.

Diet is the same as everything else in life, whether its poker, drugs, exercise, food, work, drinking, sex, parenting, relationships, its all about balance and finding the appropriate balance to achieve your desired outcome.

Boog took that role. He's currently in a Korean jail for molesting a young Korean boy. Boog is claiming that all was a misunderstanding due to the language barrier. The boy says boogs English lessen taught him yes and no the wrong way round.

OK, students put their heads down. I walk around. I poke the student who is to be "Quiet Joker." The Quiet Joker squints at students to kill. Students can ask me about students they suspect to be Quiet Joker. If students are wrong, they're dead. Three dead students, Quiet Joker wins.

I can't seem to find a concrete answer to this.

Would my American cellphone (Sprint carrier) get service in London?

I got service on my mobile in Thailand so I can't see why you wouldn't in London. I think the providers have deals set up with each other. I got a welcome text at my stop off in India from some Indian phone company and then another when I landed in Bangkok. But watch out for the cost, I tan up over 100 quid in 2 weeks and I hardly used the thing

For ages North America used different frequencies or someshit for cellphones than those used by basically the rest of the world, so if you wanted to take your phone there you had to have a fancy multi-band phone that could roll with more than one kind of frequency. I think meanwhile pretty much all phones have this capability, so the phone should just work as soon as you rock in the UK (my NZ phone worked fine in Vegas till it wanted to go for a swim in the pool, for instance).

Wiiiiiiiiiiiith that all said, although your phone will prolly work there sweet, I wouldn't roam with it. Bikes is right, just rock up to Vodafone or Virgin or T Mobile or the fucking Carphone Warehouse and drop the ten quid or however much it is on a sim card to chuck in your phone (it should come with credit loaded on there already [someone who has bought a sim card in the UK more recently than my effort in 2005 can confirm]) then you can enjoy the power of cheaper communication while your friends, colleagues and bitches are spending their money like FOOLS.

I feel like doing some gambling this weekend and looking over some casinos to go to.

I've played in most of the Tampa area casino's. Besides those and the usual Vegas/AC casinos, does anybody have any recommendations on where to play?

I've looked into a few in the Chicago area so far, but haven't researched it much further than that.

I'd prefer for a state/city in the eastern or mid part of the country and just hold all cross country/international travel for full week vacations.

No one alive today will be alive on an extra-solar planet, though. They're lol-far away. The closest star is still 3 light years away. Even with the best theoretical machine to take you there (travels at like .1c) it'll still take you about 30 years according to the guy on the spaceship to get there.

And they're talking about a planet 600 light years away.

Never read any stickies or announcements
edit: also, what sort of experience do you have in the industry? Being able to cook one really good sandwich-- which doesn't give you food poising-- in your home is far different from being able to cook dozens, if not hundreds in a day.
Pulled this from a Boost post in another thread but didn't want to hijack.

    A couple random points/observations/whatever:

    1. I was impressed with Boost's correct and sleek use of the neither+nor combination from earlier in the post.

    2. Just how common of an occurence is food poisoning? I have read into it and the dangers are obviously legit but based on personal experience...

if we average 3 meals a day (historically I have probably averaged 5, at least) that's ~1000 meals a year. I'm in my 20s so say conservatively, I have eaten 25,000 meals in my life. Included in this are countless instances of eating food left out at parties, undercooked burgers/chicken, etc etc. and yet I have never gotten sick from food in my life. I have to imagine, for evolutionary reasons, that the human body can deal with bacteria in the digestive tract pretty effectively. Of course I may or may not be taking too little consideration of how many people die from dirty food/water.

I was somewhat reminded of these points when watching my friend eat several day old pizza that was never chilled after delivered and he says he does it all the time. Fake cheese ftw?

Food regulations are usually much stronger than they technically need to be, but that's because we need a pretty huge buffer since people go way over the "line" all the time.

I've gotten food poisoning several times, but that's because I eat at hole-in-the-wall Korean/Thai joints a bunch, and they do stuff like leave chicken out for days. Most really bad food poisoning has been stopped due to safety regulations. Like if you drink raw milk, your risk of illness is dramatically higher. Perhaps if you know the farm conditions well enough, the risk isn't much higher, but yeah...
  74. #7424
From the standpoint of a business owner, food poisoning is a huge deal. I've only had it once myself, but it was hell. And a lot of people seem to forget or not know that diarrhea/ uncontrollable vomiting can be fatal. But back to the business owner-- just one small outbreak can ruin a business.
