so you admit to believing in things that are wrong despite the fact that you may see them to be wrong?

I don't admit to beliving anything that I know to be wrong, that would be stupid. If I believe something, then it's because I don't think it's wrong.

    Welcome to faith.

What, like near freefall collapse as a result of plane impact and fire near the top of a skyscraper? Like passports surviving what skyscrapers don't? Like the government innocently removing evidence from the scene of the worst crime ever committed on American soil?

It's the unreasonable nature of these aspects that means I have a hard time accepting the official story.

rilla, I'd love to, but I really don't have the time.. I'd just be dead weight in the game or I'd be neglecting other obligations like I'm doing right now.

I am curious though-- were you quoting my arguments as a compliment, saying, "you'd be really good at WW!" or were you just making a composite of my efforts in wasting time making unproductive posts on a message board?

you know that you have no credibility on these topics, so why do you think it is reasonable to believe the unreasonable thing that you have credibility on these topics? do you not see how you are contradicting yourself by admitting that you don't know these things but then acting like you do?

nobody's asking anybody to believe what the government says or for it to even make sense how the buildings could have fallen the way they did. it doesn't make a lick of sense to me, but what DOES make sense is knowing that because i dont know enough about this stuff that i should not pretend like i do.

why is it so attractive to ignore experts and focus on non-experts? you're pretty good at smoking weed right? well, say that somebody who has never smoked weed before wants to know how to do it, and you tell him that you'll show him, but he says naw he'd rather get his information on how to smoke weed from somebody else who has never smoked weed before. you would think he's being unreasonable, and rightly so. it's no different with truthism. truthism exists because some people are weirdly engaged in taking the opinion of people who don't know these things while ignoring the opinion of those who do.

So if I'm deeply suspicious that elected governments are attacking their own people to further their agenda, I should just stfu because what the fuck do I know about these things. Right?

That's basically the same as saying "I'm stupid" and then putting your fingers in your ears la la la la la. The fact of the matter is, the vast majority of people are way below the expert threshold. That's why they're getting away with it. Because people like you are willing to accept unbelievable stories on the basis that experts (who you have very probably never met) are telling you what they say happened can happen, even though it's only ever happened three times in history, all on the same day in the same city... that fire can cause such catastrophic collapse.

I don't need to be an expert to call bullshit. If only experts can challenge the official line, then we're doomed to be forever manipulated by what the media call "experts".

when your deep suspicion comes from an unreasonable position, then yes.

That's basically the same as saying "I'm stupid" and then putting your fingers in your ears la la la la la.
on the contrary, it's saying you're smart enough to know how to evaluate things, be they your own understanding of the material or assessment of credibility of others.

The fact of the matter is, the vast majority of people are way below the expert threshold. That's why they're getting away with it. actually you do need to be an expert to call bullshit. it is of the utmost imperative that you be an expert on physics when you're criticizing physics as explained by expert physicists. how ironic it is that you keep saying "these things that are physics things don't make sense" in the face of swaths of physics experts who say they do make sense. ive seen several teaching and researching physics phds state that the evidence and theory presented by truthers is getting physics wrong and that the physics that they teach explains the behavior of the buildings.

Whatever. I strongly disagree. I'm not an expert on anything, so I can't call bullshit on aything? I'll just sit here and believe every fucking thing I'm told because I'm not an expert?

    Fuck. That.

I'll just parrot the words of selected experts that suit my opinion. Just like you.

you shouldnt call bullshit on things when you're not an expert on them and there are experts who say otherwise

I'll just sit here and believe every fucking thing I'm told because I'm not an expert?
why is it so hard to accept that when you know nothing about electricity, it's a bad idea to do something with your home electrical wiring that electricians say you should not do?

I'll just parrot the words of selected experts that suit my opinion. Just like you.
i haven't done that. i haven't "selected" anybody, only accepted the scientific consensus. you have "selected", but they haven't been experts.

We should bring in a cunt law. Whereby if you're being a cunt to enough people, let's say half the population or something, you automatically forfeit half your wealth and CEOs half their companies wealth (which they should be sepreately prosecuted and jailed for ).

It most likely is breaking some laws somewhere (or in multiple places). However, it's profitable to do so.

It might work differently here. Food stamps are the first source of assistance most people get.

Why on earth aren't you dealing? You should at least be able to shift enough to smoke for free. An ounce typically gets you a quarter, which is a reasonable amount for a weeks smoke, and you only need to make 6 sales transactions.

Not worth the risk. I mean dealers need to have people coming and going, neighbours tend to notice these things. People talk, it's a small town and everyone will soon know what you're doing. It's a matter of time before you get a pride of burly coppers come boot the door down. Fuck that. Most people who I've bought weed off have been busted at least once.

If I were going to get involved with that side of things, I'd like to quietly grow, selling to one trusted person. That's a risk too, but at least it gets me off benefits. I can't do that where I currently live though. Not unless the law changes.

Food stamps here are basically vouchers for buying food items at stores. I guess it's a completely different thing.

I'm gonna hazard a guess that this is more a means of stigmatising those on welfare more than an effort to stop money being spent on drugs and whatnot. This will just encourage crime, because drug addicts (not pot heads like me) will feed their addiction one way or another. Stoners, well I think most of us can deal with it if we haven't got any weed, it's not like the world is crumbling. There's not many people stealing from grandma's purse for a ten bag of weed.

This will definitely encourage people to get a job though. Maybe not me, because I wouldn't give a fuck what the cashier at the store thinks about me, but lots of people are concerned about their image.

    This is interesting.
The literal meaning of the poem is pretty clear cut. You're given equal choices all the time with no way of knowing the outcome, and later you'll give yourself a slap on the back for making all those great meaningless choices.

The interesting part is: no matter how fucking obvious you make it to people, they still hear what they want to hear, as evidenced by the top comments. /r/books isn't the hight of fucking civilization, but its users are still definitely among the brainier of people, and still, when it comes to freedom of choice we really don't want to hear that nothing we do matters. Even the article itself senslessly backpedals in the last paragraph. Freedom of choice seems like a pretty touchy subject.

Positing a lack of free will is surely the greatest challenge to the ego imaginable. Without choice the significance of the self is almost entirely eroded. It shouldn't be a surprise that people bend the evidence every which way to retain an illusion of free will and thereby protect the ego.

Similarly, many people get very defensive when you, even casually, question either the veracity of their memory or the extent to which they are capable of accurately perceiving reality.

I memorized this poem back in High School for some assignment. Super tight set of stanzas. I always thought it was a cool poem about taking your path no matter how others choose. I guess he lowlights the fact that they're equal choices and highlights his adventurousness.

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Equal in all but his eyes, though.

If they're equal and you're picking one, isn't that the element You picking it?

I remember reading an article about Francis Crick, the guy who discovered the helical structure of DNA, and how he took his insight that Structure is Purpose over to the problem of consciousness. He had become entranced by this organelle in the brain called the claustrum (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1569501/). It apparently had all the structural features of where consciousness could be carried, huge INs and OUTs to all the other brain sub-systems that make up the cacophony of experience. They took rats and damaged their claustrum and one of the interesting things that happened was when put in a room with 7 different but equal options, the rats could not in any fashion decide which to take, where as normal rats hit a fuck-it point and take one.

Robby Frost is just celebrating a healthy claustrum imo.

Okay now name 15 things men do better than women that doesn't suck. It'll be easier.

I'm just carrying on with those posts after a fyp I got from OngBonga in the other thread.

On a different subject: Holidays are always interesting for me because my family is cool, and my main girl's family is cool, but my other girl's family isn't cool. They're always on some bullshit that gets her stressed out, but I don't want to just be like, "Hey stop seeing your family." It's like the most retarded thing ever because they kiss my ass like I'm Jesus Christ himself when I'm around and then hate on me when I'm not. Like every female in that family is jealous as fuck because all they can attract are noobs and dudes out on house arrest because they're straight-up white trash. The males love me because I'm just cool to them and don't act like the typical dipshit that the females in the family associate with, but they're mostly high-beta dorks who let their females run all over them like some shit out of that Bridezillas TV show that was out a while back.

For my family or my main's family, it's a bit different. The males there are a lot more assertive, and the women aren't exactly meek or anything like that, but they're with men who can handle them and who can keep them from getting out of line when need be. You'd think having more places to go for Thanksgiving or Christmas would be more stressful, but it would really be fine if these EBT-selling dipshits weren't in the mix.

Edit: Redneck moment. Ended up pulling over beside the woods at my old elementary school last night so my other girl could get out and pop a squat because nowhere that had a bathroom close by was open since it was Thanksgiving. I knew all of those napkins my girl keeps stuffed in the glove compartment would come in handy.

I've always been kind of meh on turkey. I'm a big fan of ham, though.

We don't acknowledge his behaviour, we just ignore it. We aren't being passive-aggressive, we are being dominant.

    I figured it was related.

Yes, men are better than women at most things. Pat yourself on the back for being male. Well done, you deserve it.

Serious question... would you rather be surrounded by men, or women? I mean, say, there's two rooms, one with ten women all talking about shopping and bed sheets and whatnot, and in the next room there's ten alpha males all drinking shit beer from tins and trying to talk the loudest about sport and cars and fucking.

Which room do you go into?

I'd answer, but I just found this room full of chicks and I'm too busy showing them that they should sleep with me.

I disagree entirely. I would say the opposite is true.

I find it amusing that out of the two of us, it's the single guy who can relax around women but not so much guys, while the dude who's banging two women would rather chill with the boys.

Not sure where you got that I wouldn't be relaxed. All-female spaces are always more hectic because of the social maneuvering.

it's funny how men use verbal maneuvering to bond. social maneuvering is the sign of a clear douchebag.
