What's up with Rob Ford? Is he taking mayor lessons from Marion Barry?

mayors are usually more colorful characters than (typically) more contained federal politicians god bless 'em. rob ford takes it to another level, he's a real beauty!

I like how on the day the cops announced they've seen his crack video, he gets (allegedly) a lil' fucked up and calls a radio station under an alias to defend "the mayor", gets recognized and snap hangs up.

Best political soap opera since clinton imo. except he's only the mayor of canada so who rly gives a fuck

as for transhumanism, yes, i'd say we are. i mean, we don't tout ourselves as transhumanists, it's not part of our self-description.. but a lot of the content on our site does reflect transhumanist and futurist ideals, so i think it's safe to say we are aligned with transhumanism. and personally i do consider myself a transhumanist, if i had to say one or the other. it's not exactly my go-to self-descriptor lol but yeah, sure. i'm into it.

god damn i love sushi. also, i am spoiled on really weird[sorta] things. but damn i'm a happy lady.

So, holiday shit is coming up, and this always means being around family I can't stand about 75% of the time. I'm probably going to have pink hair about the time all that starts. I'm oddly excited.

Finding a good house in a certain price range that isn't in a neighborhood that you might be mugged, that shit ain't for the birds. Good thing I'm stubborn as fuck and don't give up when I put my mind to something.

That is very interesting, Aubrey. Thanks.

edit: I was especially impressed with the first article where the author gives a dispassionate overview on what's known about the facticity of the Castaneda accounts instead of a rah rah pro-psychedelia piece. Whatever their merits, Castaneda is a very fun read.

I know several working poor people who have pinched pennies and managed to buy houses. It's a real step up life-wise and a great investment. PS I love sushi too.

Me, my Mom, and sister went to FSU. So we're all pulling for Georgia today against Florida. Also Georgia's coach Mark Richt was an assistant under the great Bobby Bowden.

I do like Spurrier though even though he was a champion player and coach at Florida. We justify that because he's now at South Carolina where my nephew was born.

FSU Miami is an important game today for the first time in forever. Real flashback. This could be FSU's year. They are simply stacked talent-wise.

This is not sound blanket advice. There are a lot of cases where the person is far better off renting than owning. Like most things, there is a ton of nuance, and most likely if everyone is doing X, you should probably be strongly considering doing Y.
  20. #12320
If you can afford the mortgage payments it's a great investment, like paying yourself rent instead of someone else as the money doesn't just disappear but survives as equity in your home. Owning your own house is an achievement and def something to be proud of. Especially for people who realistically don't have any other investments.

Home ownership requires an upfront investment for various things, and as such, the oEV point for overall cost of ownership vs renting is around 5-7 years on average depending on various factors. For people uncertain whether they're going to stick around for longer than that, renting is almost always the best option.

I bought mine after the bubble and it's gone up about 40k. I regularly think of selling it and escaping this life of working and responsibility. I figure I can get 3 yrs travelling around Asia bumming around on beaches with the equity. The Mrs is all sensible though.

The mortgage payment would be about 225, add taxes and insurance, it's about 325.

We're approved for mortgage things, now we just have to find the house that isn't in a dangerous area, is in good shape, and isn't over the amount we were approved for. We've found another house to look at, and when our realtor gets back from vaca with his two teenage girls, and his wife, we're going to go take a lookie at it. I've been informed by boyfran that realtors life must be a living hell, because he's literally the only male in the house, their pets are also female. Dude is about 6ft7, but very honest, and is able to deal with me giving him hell.

As far as knowing if we'd be staying there long term - even if we weren't, we could rent the house out and actually have a profit. But, more than likely, we'll be staying in the area for at least 10 years, since I'm going to be going to college in the area.

But why not? I bet you'd look so sweet with a tiara!

His daughters are 12 and 13, so they're past that stage from what I gathered. When he showed us a couple of houses week before last he had his daughters with him cause they were outta school, and he was driving an hour to show us this house, plus they probably wanted to go to the mall. Anyway. The youngest one got out of the car to play with my maltese. She seemed well mannered. Later on he went to check on them, asked what they were doing, they said they were looking at vines. He didn't know what they meant, so when he came back to us he was like, uhhh what is a vine, and it took me a moment, but I realized what it was. Dude seems to have the patience of a saint.

This is all very ignorant. I don't mean that in a rude way, but it is. These are all realtor pushed ideals. A lot of the time it's not true for a lot of people. There's plenty Google can teach you about this so I'll save my lazy ass some typing. But to address at least one point, your last one, it's never a good idea to have the majority of your net worth in one investment.

I don't care what anyone says - I've had immensely profound DXM trips, comparable to my most beautiful trips on shrooms or ayahuasca or whatever else. People like to scoff at DXM because it's a very juvenile drug given its accessibility, but really, the cough syrup part is incidental. To judge a drug as "lesser" based solely on how it's commonly obtained is just silliness. Chemistry is still chemistry and DXM does exist in a pure form as well. It's a really interesting dissociative with psychedelic qualities. I've been a fucking voyager through space and time on that drug. The things I've seen behind closed lids... Really, the best closed eye hallucinations I've ever had, hands down.

It's not my favorite, but it is distinctly special to me. I've done it hundreds of times, so I feel like it's the altered state of mind I know best. I don't do it anymore though - after a while the magic is gone and then it's just a delirious numbing agent good for playing Resident Evil on (and sucking horribly).

If you ever get the chance to hear somebody tell their story, go. If they've been sober for a while and are good public speakers, they are hilarious. You will hear some crazy stuff. My favorite was this guy who was on the city council somewhere in the midwest and he missed a council meeting because he was drunk. So he calls the police on his car phone (they used to have those) and tells them he was carjacked. omg it was so funny. Probably not so funny at the time it happened but he told it really good.

Making some chicken and dumplin's tonight for supper. Probably going to be bleaching my hair/taking a shower beforehand. I'm trying to get it to the shade I need for the pastel pink to not look like booty. May post a pic later.

From what I was told by the Dr months ago about how it feels when a kidney stone is blocking the tube from your kidney to your bladder - I'm pretty sure that's happening randomly. Apparently the nerve that goes to your ladybits is wrapped around or connected to that tube, and so I keep getting shooting asa god damn fucking pains to my lady bits that make me want to rip someone's eyes out, or just scream and punch things. I haven't taken anything for pain, because it doesn't help. Been chugging water and drank a beer last night at the advice of my Dad. I'm pretty sure if people say kidney stones is worse than giving birth - I'd be able to deal with childbirth with very little screaming, and maybe without meds. But, alas, I can't have kids, and shall probably never know.

P.S. - I was tipsy as fuck after that one beer. I really have very low tolerance.

I'm trying to figure out what's going on with the portal to the right as the white smoke retracts into it. There is a blast of light that appears to be moving in forward motion. All I can figure is that the luminous part of the blast appears quickly, but fades relatively slow to it's unveiling, so we are watching it fade in slow motion, and backwards, which sort of mimics an explosion of light as it would appear if the film were being run forward...

    Anyone else have any ideas?

    p.s. I'm not even high...

The same light that's on the left openings that appear afterwards? I assume that's the initial blast -- the explosives are closest to the left doors, so you see the initial blast in the left doors first (gif last). The initial blast is sharp and decays, which played backwards appears to be a crescendo, as you see on both doors.
