No it's not. Rampage landed some good shots round 1, Forrest started working the leg. Rampage got wtfpwned Round 2 when Forrest took out his leg and got the way best of him on the ground. Round 3 Rampage was still hurt and off his game. Rounds 4 & 5 neither fighter really took control of the fight, but it was clear Rampage was hurting.

Good fight, could go either way if they fought again tomorrow and look forward to a rematch in a year or so. Hats off to Forrest for executing on a solid gameplan.

Almost everyone I know of had it 48-46 or 47-46 Rampage. That lopsided of a decision (the actual scores) shows a lot of what went on last night.

hmm, i should've clarified what i meant by that. i'm a huge forrest homer, but i honestly didn't feel like it was a unanimous decision, that's more what i was referring to, as i felt it was definitely gonna be a split. i do think forrest won however.

either way YES FORRRRRRREST

edit: this fight was extremely close and rampage should get the rematch before anyone else gets a shot imo

Rampage will clean through a couple contenders before he gets his shot. It wasn't a terribad decision. Good, close fight, Forrest won and this is coming from a guy who was cheering for Rampage and considered putting money on him.

I don't see why everyone thinks Rampage won this fight. If anything, it was either a Forrest win or a draw because the last three rounds were pretty close. I'd have to watch the fight again to get a better idea.

I think the 5th round definitely decided it. Ramage came out flat and never really got much going.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

forest dominated the 2nd rampage dominatd the 4th, i also gave rampagee the first with the knockdown and almost finishing, and gave forrest the 5th just on outworkig rampage and a few nice shots near the end of the round. the 3rd was a tossup and coulda went either way. But i do think u have to clearly beat the champ to take his belt, so i prob woulda scored it 48 - 47 for rampage.
even my buddy who bet a bunch on forrest thought he lost and was willing to tke a buyout. on his bet. i was at the fight and most people thought rampage won it.

anyway, we could beat the rampage - forrest debate to death. on some other notes...holy shit chris lytle. so much respect for him even being able to stand (thought the fight should've been stopped though). koscheck looked devastating.

sick guillotine by stevenson, although tibau looked good, though the last minute of the first round was lol w/ the look on joe's face.

wow. Im surprised that most of you thought it was close. I thought forrest pretty convincingly won that fight. It was "close." But only "close" in that Rampage didn't get destroyed (which he didn't). In the end, I thought that Forrest pretty clearly took that one.

Not that it makes a difference to you, but I tend to ignore Rogan and Co.

In any case, I probably won't go back and score the fight. I see that sherdog and the peoples at mma.tv saw it as being controversial, but I don't feel bad about the outcome.

actually rogan was nuthugging forrest pretty bad, fnord, and mike goldberg was nuthugging rampage on the broadcast if anything. We were in vegas, was a pro forest griffin crowd, and after the decision was announced all i heard was "what the fuck he didnt win! " "that's bullshit and i bet on forrest" "you should have to beat the champ to become the champ" etc.. personally i thought it was very close and i have no bias either way , i scored it 48-47 rampage watching live and score it the same way watching the ppv, obv i am not a professional judge, I was on the ppv broadcast a bunch tho, had aisle seats beside the fighter entranceway!

I gave Forrest the 2nd/4th/5th rounds

also, the second was probably a 10-8 if that's possible in MMA.

i was surprised so many people thought the 2nd round was a 10-8 round, i guess because rampage had no offense at all and forest was able to get mount even tho he wasnt able to land any strikes or sub attempts when he got it. i mean rampage did more damage in the 1st and 4th rounds with his knockdowns and top control then forest didin the 2nd unless you put alot of emphasis on leg kicks, which did do alot of damage to rampage. i hope there is an immediate rematch because i would hate to see someone else come in and take the belt before rampage has a chance to redeem himself.

10-8s (and 10-7s) aren't given out often enough.

It's stupid that a "could go either way" and "fighter A had the the best of it" both score as 10-9.

Good close fight. I seriously couldn't call a winner. Can't wait for the rematch. Although I'm not sure Forrest will have the belt if he faces Machida before then. I'm not nuthuggin' Machida, but he has a tendency to be every opponents worst match up.

In any case a belt with Machida at the helm is bad news for UFC. I wish there was a way to get a Forrest vs. Wandy slugfest in before Machida gets the shot?

I tell you what. If Melvin can stay off the Cocaine, and has truly been working on sub defense. I would pay top dollar for a BJ Penn vs. Guillard fight. Especially if it could stay standing.

Please let Spider silva be successful at 205. I want Anderson Silva vs. Chuck Liddell. NOW!

Anyone gonna forgo the free UFC in favor of the PPV Affliction card? I know I'll miss both as I'll be on the road to Cape Cod.

100% not getting the affliction card, would rather watch silva, as well as the rest of the card, which is pretty solid.

Both of these aren't happening. Forrest trains with Wanderlei, and Silva isn't staying at 205.

The Affliction Card is a better card than any UFC in the past 2 years.

The Affliction Card is a better card than any UFC in the past 2 years.
the affliction card is stronger than most ufc cards, obviously. unfortunately not every one of their cards after (definitely true if they run monthly ppvs) is gonna be even close to as strong. at least not for awhile. as for cards that come close to it...i liked this one a lot. obv. liddell-jardine isn't the best fight ever. concurrently ufc 87 is gonna be excellent, with st. pierre vs. a top tier ww in jon fitch, with ken flo vs. huerta for the lw shot, and herring-lesnar will be interesting.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFC_76

i'm also not interested in watching something for 40+ when i can watch it after. plus watching anderson silva > everything else. frankie edgar vs. hermes franca should be good, jake o'brien vs. cain velazquez should be awesome, plus a few other interesting fights.

and yes, forrest looks like shit after the fight. it's just too damn bad he controlled most of his fight against rampage and legit won the fight. it's also too bad that fights aren't decided by superficial damage as well. and i'm not disputing that rampage's shots that caused those didn't hurt, either.

what?

i realize affliction has to put on a massive card as it's their first one, but it literally means nothing. obviously ufc could do so, but there's balancing of cards.

The UFC has had at the most 2 cards in the past 2-3 years that would be worth paying for, even now post-Pride. It's retarded, especially when I look back and remember that nearly every single Pride show was stacked.

what?

i realize affliction has to put on a massive card as it's their first one, but it literally means nothing. obviously ufc could do so, but there's balancing of cards.
Umm........there's such a glut of talent in the UFC right now. There really shouldn't be a need to balance cards and hold back. There are a ton of fights that could happen right now. What the UFC needs to do is worry less about the TUF newbies getting fights and book the fights its loyal fans want.

I thought Jon Fitch was out because of a broken body part? Was I deceived?
