Hey I need help from someone who knows computers. I don't know too much. I am trying to get the display from my laptop onto my television. I bought a nice monster cable s-video cable but I can't get it to work. I get my desktop wallpaper on there but I don't get any icons and I can't see any programs or webbrowsers that I open. Anyone help me out?

its probably just set up to use both your laptop and your TV as a dual monitor setup. can you drag stuff across from your laptop to your tv? If you right click and view Properties/Settings/Advanced, you can probably configure it in there

Maybe your resolution on your computer is too high, and you're only seeing a piece of your desktop? Try lowering your resolution to test?

The resolution is set at 1024 x 768. When I set it at 800 x 600, I get the same wallpaper but it looks like crap. I still don't get any icons or browsers.

ok so what type of video card is it and such?
it might not be tv in and out and check the connections meaning the color matches each and change the tv to video 1, 2, or 3. I know these are common questions but give those a shot...

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. I have no clue what that means. It came in my laptop. I just assumed since I have an s-video connection on the back it would be able to send the display. There is also s-video on the TV. I know my TV needs to be on Video 5 for s-video in and I know how to send the display to the TV. The problem is all I get is the wallpaper, nothing else.

Have you tried what kingsthrone suggested, as this seems like a logical solution to the problem you are describing. Also, what version of windows are you using? Can you move the mouse around on the tv screen?

ok. I figured out the dragging thing and I get display on my TV. I can't get my browser to come up though. It only shows up on my laptop. Any more suggestion for that?

I had to drag stuff over to the TV. I didn't understand what he was talking about at first.
