I've been lifting a lot lately (don't worry, not a story) and am trying to get more protein into my breakfast. I've made smoothies with a scoop of protein or just had some chicken. What I was thinking was adding a scoop or two of protein (I have vanilla and chocolate) to my pancake batter. My question for all you culinary engineers is how this would affect the texture of the pancake? Would I have to counteract the extra powder (like adding extra bisquick) with more milk, eggs, etc?
LOL OPERATIONS

this is your first problem. dont use bisquick. make real pancakes.

secondly, i think you would have to adjust the recipe to make up for the extra dry ingredients. just do it by trial and error, and add more until the consistency looks right.

It doesn't change it that bad. I always liked adding it to my oatmeal more though.

make sure you remove the same amount of dry ingredients from the recipe. Try unflavoured as well. Some of the Whey protiens have aspartame in them and don't take to heat to well. If they have sucrolose they should be fine. Just use enough protien to get your serving of 30 to 40 depending on what you are shooting for.

I used to just mix in in a glass of milk. I used like 3x the milk they suggested and it wasn't bad.

Protein pancakes are just plain bad. Put a scoop of whey in a bowl of oatmeal, it will mix well and you won't even taste it. If you're looking to get bigger you can always just add peanut butter (natural) to everything and anything. This is my favorite recipe:

8oz FF milk
1 chopped banana
2 tbsp. Peanut butter
1 scoop Whey

Blend well, should be relatively thick
That'll get ya big

Eat normal food instead and just drink the protein. It's nasty but at least it's over with sooner and you didn't taint any food. I did this when I was on my 2k mile hike last year and I turned out alright.
