Post subject: Proposal: Make Commune posts count towards total post count.

This is something that always confused me. Obviously it isn't that important, but it continues to confuse me nonetheless. I post on several forums and lurk at many more. All of them have some sort of community, lounge, tailget, or off-topic forum. In every case except FTR, the off-topic section is considered part of the main forum, both in terms of attitude and in terms of the posts counting. I suggest we do the same thing on FTR.
As I see it, the main reason it's setup how it is (where Community posts do not count), was that the admins wanted to emphasize and encourage poker discussion when FTR was much younger and less established. This is certainly very reasonable, and I very well may have done the same thing.
However, I can't help but think that it's having the opposite effect now-- that new users are intimidated to go into the poker forums with more established players and FTR members and talk about poker with a post count of 0. They don't get a chance to introduce themselves or build their name or post count in the commune (this also has to deal with the 10 post minimum to post in the commune to deal with spammers).
I feel we should make the commune a warmer and more friendly place. Make the posts count and let newbies make themselves feel like they are a part of our community. I was always told in school that one person can make a difference, and this is me trying to do just that.

This reminds me of when I first started voting. I thought I needed to vote for every race even though I didn't know anything about or care about 90%. Not saying railroad commissioner isn't an important race, I just don't know what he does.

it'll put a lot of people over 4k posts, including you as soon as Xman resets the post counts. That's not what my no vote is about anyways.
I feel commune posts shouldn't count for the reasons Lukie mentioned, having an inflated post count due to commune post-whoring isn't what a poker instructional/informational site should be about.

I personally like the posters in the Community and there are some really good threads and reads that I enjoy here. Sure there is some garbage posted in here, but that holds true of all the forums to one extent or another. Like I said before, I feel like this forum should be part of the FTR community.

i dont see why it really matters. i mean generally you look at post counts to see how involved someone is, and i like that i can see if someone is active posting in poker related threads, whereas some people mainly post in the commune.
despite all this, i applied lukie theorem #3

Just hypothesizing, but he probably made a post, got credit for it, then deleted it, but the post doesn't get deducted until Xianti updates everything. I'm guessing he did that recently.

1. I'm not involved in any side bets about post counts nor am I aware of any that exist.
2. That's a shitty thing to say considering how much I know I've contributed to FTR since I've been here. I havn't been playing poker because I'm working on another business opportunity so I havn't been posting about poker. That translates into me not caring about most of the regs here?
