Voting across party lines has become more common. I read recently that, in California, something like 20% of voters have registered their party affiliation as "decline-to-state" (non-partisan) and this trend is growing. I, myself, am registered as such. I think many of us have gotten fed up with extreme partisanship and have decided to vote for who we like, regardless of party affiliation.

Thanks for putting this up, X-man.

There needs to be an end to Republican rule in the US. I choose Obama b/c he represents a new generation and it's time to hand over the reigns. He's smart enough to surround himself with savvy advisors and I would expect him to even appoint some Republicans he respects to key cabinet posts, so I've got no worries about him being up for the job.

Second choice is Clinton, because she's a Democrat and is committed to bringing in universal health care for all Americans and I also think she has the backbone to represent and lead the US internationally. In my mind, she's the left's version of Margaret Thatcher. She'll do a good job, but I have some doubts about her electability. She's gonna be put through the wringer in the election.

I think it's great that McCain will be Republican nominee. The guy's a hero (you'll be hearing a lot about that, no doubt) and he has shown that he'll take a centrist position when it makes sense, so he's a realist. I don't want to see him in office, but it wouldn't be a total disaster if he was. My biggest concern about him is actually who is going to be on the ticket with him. McCain is old, obv., and every American has to look at his VP candidate as a potential president, b/c McCain could easily kick in office. He has to choose his running mate very carefully to have a chance. Huckabee would be a disaster if he actually inherited the Presidency.

this is good news. Clearly Obama (despite lack of extensive experience) is going to be a good president in terms of foreign relations.

I think the vast majority people from outside the U.S would prefer to see a Democrat in the White House.
