I tried adding SNGs (I'm on PokerStars so can only 12-table cash but can play as many tournaments as I want) and I was profitable over like 200 but they're bothersome and like 100-tabling SNGs is like 1-tabling cash so yeah.
I've downloaded movies and stuff but I can only watch so many movies.
I've tried reading, both real books and their PDF versions -- I actually read The Game and half of the B volume of an encyclopedia doing this -- but that's kinda aggravating.
So then I tried downloading audio books, but after about 5 minutes of that I got bored again.

I've got to play 38k hands before the end of October to make Supernova. That's like 50 hours. That's not too bad if it wasn't for the shitload of homework I've put off for the past month that's due soon.
ship it holla: Dealer: Game #12620676387: spoonitnow wins pot ($398) with a full house, Sevens full of Fours
But yeah anyway, I'm still bored. I turn 23 next month so maybe I can talk everyone into sending me their $$ to round off their accounts to nice even numbers again (I made like $50 from that last year).
I've quit poker twice since bmxicle told me in IRC that I needed to hurry up and get balla, and well, I'm still working on it. I really just want to make enough from poker to finish my undergrad and get my master's. Then I want to teach math at a community college or something and possibly work on my Ph.D. in education or something.

I just realized that my buy-in is the same size as my initial loan to get back into a game. I've used very strict bankroll guidelines also, and have went from -$200 playing 10nl to $6k+ (not counting a bunch of withdraws) playing 200nl in like five months on PokerStars.
Oddly enough, I'm fairly confident that the only reason that I'm winning is that my opponents suck -- I'm not particularly good at poker I don't think.
Once I make Supernova, I'll be making about 1623.75 FPPs/hour or $24.36/hour in FPPs based off of the $1500 bonus, which works out to about 33% rakeback. That's like a Nintendo Wii every 15 hours.
Unfortunately if I played 60 hours/week, it would still take me a year to get that Aston Martin -
I've got a scary looking avatar that catches comments constantly on PokerStars:

TheYeti: so what farm animal kicked you in the head?

I hate it when something happens and some dipshit is like, "That's poker." Well no shit, I thought we were playing fuckin Uno. So I wonder if professional Uno players do that shit when they get a Draw 4 dropped on their ass, "That's Uno."
I've never played live poker. I'll get back to this in a minute, but first:

Administrator: $58 turbo [4-max, 2 seats awarded!] to the Sunday Million will begin when 8 players have registered. Find this NEW S&G satellite type at the top of the Tourney/All tab! Good luck!
|
That's sort of a random ass format for a satellite.
But yeah I've never played live poker. I live in the middle of North Carolina, well kinda towards the mountains, but the closest casinos are like a billion miles away. Since none of my friends play poker, it's kind of hard to find a home game as well. I actually contacted a few people over some home game listings I found online, but didn't feel like driving an hour and a half each way to a $10 SNG-type format with people I don't really know. When they get poker all situated and whatnot in West Virginia I'll probably ride up for a few days and get my feet wet.
Stacked a shorty shipitholla: Dealer: Game #12623593473: spoonitnow wins pot ($117) with three of a kind, Fours
I'm still kinda bored.

So I'm down like $900 because AA < KJo, QQ < AK on xxxx, and other random stupid shit.
I talked to Miffed a bit on AIM but then he left.
Then I helped euphorifawjeiofwaefcism or however you spell his name with some short-stacking stuff. With 20bb stacks, and it's folded to you in the SB with A2o, pushing is +EV no matter what range BB calls with. DOUCY?
Dealer: Game #12628050975: spoonitnow wins pot ($304) with two pair, Kings and Tens
Dealer: Game #12628098271: spoonitnow wins pot ($394) with a pair of Aces

I generally beat off at least once per session, and Firefox w/tabs eliminates the need to multitable porn.

Last night I went to Walmart to pick up some Gatorade and condoms but on the opposite side of the condoms aisle I saw those wrist brace things that are supposed to help prevent carpel tunnel or whatever and since my right wrist has kind of been hurting lately after my sessions, I got one. It's black, and very hot, and it looks like that really nerdy guy off the WoW episode of South Park that all of the boys were fighting against or w/e. I'll have pics later, I can't find my camera atm.
I was going to start playing a bit earlier than I normally do, but I looked at the games and they're absolutely horrible right now, so I'm going to break in my wrist guard thingy with some Age of Empires.

Seriously, how the fk can you 12-table 200NL? I take it this is full-ring not 6max?
I wanna learn but dont think I'll ever be able to do it (getting reads must be close to impossible)

I think I already said it's full ring but if it was me I wouldn't read all that shit either so it's all good, but reads aren't that hard if you can keep up with a lot at one time because the action comes at you a lot slower. I also use a HUD with about 50 million stats so that helps as well.
I really don't use the HUD for specifics very much, but just to have a general idea of how the player plays. I use VP$P, PFR, # hands, cbet%, fold to cbet%, flop/turn/river AF, total AF, fold SB to steal%, fold BB to steal%, and attempt steal%. It sounds like a lot but it's not so bad, you can check my screenshot I linked to above to see how I have my layout.
Mostly I just refer to VP$P, PFR, and #hands though.
FWIW, as far as table selection goes, I really just go for the tables with the highest average pot size, and if there's a lot of short-stacks on it I'll skip it and go to the next.

Suppose if I switched to full ring I'd be able to add alot more tables (playing 5-max fixed limit right now).
FWIW if I suffer from immense boredom grinding cash games I occasionally add a donkament into the mix, either that or casino whore. Anything else is just too distracting - how many times have your aces on the button timed out because you cant peel your eyes away from the big action-scene on the tv? :laughs:

Full ring limit is boredom incarnate. Short-handed LHE was my main game for a while, so I feel you.
So it seems like the jump in skill from 100nl to 200nl is bigger than any other jump so far. A lot of the players seem to actually think a bit, which is kinda cool because it makes the games less boring.

At what stakes do you think multi-tabling becomes -ev? What I mean is at which point do you REALLY need to be paying very close attention?
I'm playing 5/10 SHLHE and Think I could probably manage 4 tables if it wasnt for the crappy Ongame software crashing and if resizeable tables was an option, if I was playing at Stars or FT I'd prob have to stick to 2 tables and really pay attention to every little detail.

The hell if I know.
I actually 4-table or 6-table like every other day. Right now I know I can at least break even at 200nl 12-tabling, but I'll be doing more of the 6-tabling after I make Supernova.

I'm probably going to have to cool it with lower pocket pairs in early position.
I downloaded Daut's 3/6 NL Full Ring video from CardRunners. The volume level on it sucks horribly, but it's a good video.

I've just starting into my second session of the day.
That CR video I mentioned earlier made me realize that I'm playing too mechanically or whatever, so I'm starting to be a little more analytic about my play and mix things up a little every now and then.
I reload like a fucking crack addict. Seriously. Anytime I'm under a full stack and I notice it, I reload.
Jesus Christ Ferguson, I just raised AK 4x UTG and got 7 callers, no shit. Flop comes KJ6 rainbow and I'm like just wtf do I do now lol.
I think I'm going to get my girlfriend this for Christmas:

What sucks is they only have it in medium and large atm and she's def a small. Arg.

wear your brace to bed, spoon. During sleep people tend to bend their wrists in odd ways. My mother has been wearing one of those braces for years now

Depending on where it's from it'll be either S/M/L or 0/2/4/6/8/1000 or whatever. I've asked her about it before she doesn't know what's up with it either.

There's so many jokes I could make here.

Step 0: Buy food/drink
Step 1: 12-table
Step 2: Mini-fridge
Step 2.5: Put above food/drink in mini-fridge
Step 3: Gatorade bottle to piss in
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit
You can get a mini-fridge for like $60 at Walmart that will hold 24 twelve oz cans plus some, and it's not really that bad of a purchase imo. Now that I have one, I don't see how I lived without one. It's like playing without Poker Tracker.
They have this hot dog cooker thing that's a piece of shit too but it made me want to get a real one.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

In fact, in the USA it's 0/2/4/6/8/whale
but that corresponds to australia as 4/6/8/10/12/whale
so people willget offended if you call size 10 a whale in australia. Which generally isn't the case, cos normally size 6 is fairly balanced slim unless one is weirdly proportioned.
then in germany this equates to 30/32/34/36/38/whale
and that basically corresponds to XXS/XS/S/M/L/whale
then there's euro sizes too...
basically it's trying to obscure the fact that 90% of women are fat. OK, correct that - 90% of US women and 88% of Australian women. So they keep deflating the sizes and giving them weird numbers. Which is why they quit using the S/M/L in the first place. Cos L corresponds to size 8 in the US, which is relatively large but not obese. But those sensitive shits and their politically correct friends decided they didn't like to be called "large". And they kept downgradng their numbers. I mean can someone tell me why we have size 0 and 00? Are we playing roulette?

So I'm trying to start a session now, but the waiting lists are like 50 million fucking people long and it sucks. I was +2.21 ptbb/100 for my first 10k hands back at 200nl, which is about right.
Halloween-related question: If you were a zombie, would you fuck a hot chick if she was dead? What about an ugly chick with a great body who was dead via decapitation?
Fuck this I'm tired of waiting. Age of Empires II? Sounds good to me.

Came back about 30 minutes later and the waiting lists have calmed down so I'm going to start a session.
My favorite kind of Gatorade is Riptide Rush, that purple shit from the Gatorade Frost line or whatever. I had Waffle House for breakfast and I feel like I'm about to squeeze my insides out of my ass. Pretty standard.
So hurray for being down 2 buyins in my first 200 fucking hands.
Make that down three and a half. I check-raised allin with AK and nut flush draw on undercard board in 3-bet pot and missed when he called with KK. Villain 3-bets fairly light for full ring so I think it was pretty +EV since I'm like 45% to win if he calls with KK anyway.
That's Uno.

Just flopped AKx with AK vs AA. That's indicative of how my day is going.

Overall, do you think you have an edge when money goes in past the 50th bb?

I think I have an edge with 10 bb stacks or 500 bb stacks.
This is the I'm bored thread, not the bore me thread.
Ohhhhhhhhhh burn.
Only 17k vee pee pees to go weeeeeeeeeeeee.
The honest answer is I'm not sure. When I'm playing my A or B game, I know I do, but when I play my C-ZZ game, not so sure.
I personally prefer 100bb stacks for this particular game.

Yeah I'm thinking of grabbin a minifridge. Problem is I drink a *lot* when I'm playing poker, and it would probably be doubly so if I didn't have to get up and go out to the garage fridge to get a coke zero. I'm not sure that amount of coke zero is healthy even if it *is* calorie free.
Have to switch to those flavored waters I guess.

I personally need a fucking mini-urinal installed. I try not to use my Gatorade bottles since I usually refill them.

So I suck at poker, life, and not pissing on my shirt in public.
I've decided that a few times a week I'm going to just 4-table for a few hours and post hands that I've put more thought into than my initial impulse or reaction after a second or two of reflection, which is what generally happens while 12-tabling.
I have a fuckton of homework due on Thursday that my class was told would be due two weeks from Thursday instead. This is gayer than AIDS.
I'm going to grind a bit, possibly post some hands, then hit the sack and work my ass off on homework all day tomorrow.

pissing in gatorade bottles sounds dangerous if you also drink gatorade. Have you ever made a mistake?

Obviously I'd mark the bottle, but yeah that would suck.
