Ummm... not really. Pot limit makes the game considerably more interesting pre-flop.

I read that a lot of government agencies say that poker, as in 1 hand, in gambling, but poker tournaments often is a game of skill, not luck.
Their reasoning is that luck is a major facor in 1 hand of poker. No limit is a perfect example. It is possible (though unlikely) to win all the money at the table with 1 hand of no limit poker.
Though this is still possible in pot limit, with the restriction of the bet size, it is a lot more difficult. And almost impossible for limit poker. This is my reasoning behind pot limit being more skillful.

One thing to consider though is that once the blinds get big enough in a PL tourney, it basically plays almost exactly like a NL tourney. You can still bet a ton of chips, and a small stack can still go all in at any time.
I think they're pretty equal skill wise.

PL makes multiplayer situations a little more difficult. Where in NL you can throw out a big bet to isolate the field, PL requires creative ways to protect vulnerable hands.
However, NL entails more "big" decisions, meaning faced with all of your chips on the line. PL can be safer, but requires a deeper level of planning.

TJ Cloutier compares the two in his Championship No-Limit and Pot-Limit Hold'em book. Here is what he has to say.
"Pot-limit has more skill to it than limit poker, but no-limit has far more skill than pot-limit." [135]

Nice review, hadn't read it yet.
I wonder if he still thinks NL is a tougher game with the recent "internet" style of play which does not hesitate to flip coins pre-flop. Although, I guess when the blinds get silly, there really isn't much difference between the 2 formats.

I think poker in general is hard to master at any limit. Each limit has its own nuances and strategies for success. I think No Limit takes a little more skill than Pot Limit due to the fact that you cal lose it all considerably faster than the other two limits.

personally, i feel "limited" in pot limit, because i like to play fairly aggressively preflop when i have a hand.
hence i think pot limit takes a little more skill.
in NL, i have the big club available whenever i want it - in pot limit, i may have to start off with a small hammer.

That's one of the best things about it you have to play the flop more and think about future bets when you bet i.e. Limping with Aces hoping for a raise so you can bet the pot when it returns to lmt the field.
I'm reading PL NL by Ciaffone/Reuben, some excellent stuff in there so far
