I was just wondering, it would be cool if they did poker studies as a university module. I dunno what its like in America but here in england you get all sorts of wacky modules going on if you want to choose an elective, cosmology, sports psychology, canine theology, everything gurl.
Anyways by the way I can picture some old 'professor' taking classes, maybe Amarillo Slim for instance, waving a cane at a chalkboard with his stetson on, drawling about pot odds, noone understanding his accent. Everyone gets great at poker, all players enrol on the course and suddenly H@££INGGOL has to move down to $100NL because that's the highest game he can beat, and he only beats it for 6BB/100. $25/50 on stars is composed of near telepathic individuals who are all perfect players with no edge over each other and only play so they can tell their grandkids they were 'breakeven at $5000NL'
Class gets so big it's held in rented stadiums and Amarillo slim's accent is obscured further by shoddy university PA system. Poker has long since been the new baseball/football/soccer for kids to get into with the long term dream to exchange money back and forth with the $5000 NL sharks.
A new microstake is created, 1 cent NL for players like me who suck because they didn't do the course and were pushed down the pecking order. Fnord is the shark at these stakes but plays the occasional 2 cent NL homegame. Some old time ftr high rollers have retained their bankrolls and try and shortstack $5000NL but the players there are so good that the ratholers only ever double up when they suck out, but they never go in behind anyway so it's pointless.
Someone decides that Amarillo Slim is getting too old to be a stadium tutor so he is replaced by $5000NL shark 'Exchng$$$WitU', but being a perfect player his tutorage is lost on everyone and poker goes down the drain again for newspapers to condemn it as the cause of gambling addiction and it is banned for ever
