Hello all. This is my first post to your community.
Here's the story.
I'm 22 years old. I'm into online poker for about 6months (playing at CDPoker). And I would like to start playing some "real" poker (I mean poker with real cards and table, you know what I mean ). But it seems to me that that it is impossible here in Croatia. Whenever I want to organise some poker nights people aproach me like this: "I dont know how to play it" (when I tell them I will teach them they think of it like I want to fraud them into something), "I'm affraid to lose some money" (stakes are 0.05-0.10$ in our currency ), "I'm not interested at all" (people here don't even know what poker is and how much fun it can be)... I think you get the whole picture.

So how to start anything here where people doesnt know anything about poker?
We have casinos but only poker i stumbled on is carribian...

When I go to our casinos (95% of them are automat clubs!) I'm sad to see ppl (who don't have money when I mention poker) give away their money (hard earned) to "casinos".
I'm offering free beer and snacks, great evening to my friends but in 95% of my asking answer is "NO, If i want to gamble I will go to automat club."

How to improve poker situation?
Where is the nearest point in europe where I can play Texas hold em?
Any players from croatia in here?

PS
I hope that this post isn't offtopic. Sorry bout my not so well english

Buy all your friends poker books for Christmas (Phill Helmuths if you are feeling evil).
Get them into online poker, introduce them to some microlimit games...
Have a freeroll tourney?
Its like seducing girls, small steps and before you know it they are waking you up in the mornings and asking for it.

Best to start off just playing for chips or something, i guess its the money aspect that might be putting them off the most, or the fact you know how to play already and they think you want to take all their money.

Ah Croatia. I've wanted to visit there for awhile. Someone I know is from there and the social climate is totally different from the States. From what I have heard, it is more likely that they don't really have the appeal of poker. They would rather be with friends and have more of an engaging entertainment.

Without having visited myself I can't really give any more insite than that.

No wonder I can't get my friends to play poker. Or get them to have sex with me. Or get them to play poker while having sex with me.
