FTR would like to hold a poker essay competition open to anyone on FTR, with some gear as a prize! If you want to enter, it's simple:

RULES

1) Be a member of the FTR community with at least 50 posts.
2) Choose an interesting subject and write a unique poker article of at least 500 words.*
3) Submit your article by clicking here.**
4) All essay's must be written coherently, with correct grammar and punctuation. Please proofread before submitting, if any article is submitted with lots of errors it will be sent back or not included.
5) Deadline is SEPTEMBER 30, 2009. (NEW DEADLINE)

* Expanding on item 2, the concept you choose does not have to be extremely advanced, but should be interesting. Please stay away from basic articles such as poker rules, bonus whoring, etc. Also, ALL ARTICLES MUST BE UNIQUE AND WRITTEN BY YOU. DO NOT attempt to submit an article that you found from anywhere else. Those who do will be forfeited and banned (plagiarism is a serious thing.)

** NOTE - Instead of e-mailing me, we have created a Submit a Poker Article page. Please use this!

PRIZES

1st - FTR Gear of your choice + Fitted FTR Hat + Custom Forum Title + FTR IMMORTALITY
2nd - FTR Gear of your choice + Full-Tilt Gear of your choice
3rd - FTR Gear of your choice
4th - Dinner with bigred.

JUDGING

All submissions will be judged by the FTR community. Once the deadline is passed, I will create a separate thread with a poll. To avoid a popularity contest, all essays will be judged blind, no one will know who's article they are voting for. Because of this please do not post the subject you are writing about in the thread. Each person may submit as many articles as they like but choose only one to be judged.

Well now we just need to find a way to keep people from creating fake accounts in order to vote for themselves, or encouraging random people to come to FTR to vote, such as what possibly could have happened in the PS/FTP table theme threads.

I guess it won't be as much of a problem since I'm guessing it will be the more reputable guys creating these articles, and I doubt they would do this. Either way, if I don't win, I demand a recount.

why dont we just elect a panel of like 20-30 of most respected members or members who have shown great contribution, itll be a way to show appreciation for their contributions and reduce random people taaking the sanjaya approach

Yes you can, at least I think you can without custom programming. You're using phpBB. So create a new forum specifically for this poll. Then make a custom rank of anyone with 50+ posts. Then allow only that rank into the newly created poll forum. Let me know how it turns out.
