i just got a samsung 204b. when i set it to 1600x1200 or 1280x1024, it gets squiggly. its like the edges around things aren't smoothed out and they keep moving. i dont really know how to describe it...
i have it set 1400x1050 right now and it works fine, but the resolution is kind of awkward and i want to have 1600x1200. when i first set it up it worked fine, but then when i turned it off and went to sleep this started happening when i turned it back on.
any help is appreciated.

I had a similar problem when I tried setting my hertz value higher than the default. You might want to check that.

you running analog or digital cable to it? What vid card do you have (and is it pci or agp)?
I have a Asus NVidia AGP card using digital out and do not have any such issues with my Samsung. I have it on 16x12 and 60 hz

I have a 204b @ 16x12 and I never have problems with it. Could it maybe be a crappy vid card?

are your speakers right next to your monitor? sometimes if they're not shielded correctly or well, proximity to monitor can cause squiggles. move your speakers or take em out and test that.
if you have access to another friends PC w/ nice enough vidcard to test hires like that on, that would prob tell you if its the monitor. doesnt sound like the card to me if it works fine at one res but not another.

the speakers were next to it and when i turned them off and moved them away, it is now flickering much less. thanks for that tip. but there is still some every now and then....is there anything else that could cause interference?

Keep your phone away from it. My guess is every time your phone checks for new txts and w/e you get the squiggles

Gabe,
You may not want to hear this, so perhaps you shouldn't read on. But your house is haunted. I'm sorry to break this news to you. Strange things will continue to happen in your home, particularly when you are going to sleep. Again, I'm sorry to inform you of this.

Hmm, this could very well be an entirely different problem, but my dad's TV used to do this. Like I'd watch it for a while, and it would start getting all squiggly and would eventually get to the point where it was unwatchable, and if you turned off the TV and turned it back on, it would be cool for a little bit. I assumed you tried that?
Other then that though, it sounds like you are having some problems with interference from other electronic devices, as others have alluded to. That could be very wrong, but it could be something like a phone, speaker, microwave, or one of many other things. *shrugs*
edit: These 2 guys are coming to my apartment to drop of some furniture tomorrow. But they work for a high-end electronics store, so if you gave me a real detailed description of your problem, I could ask them about it, and I'm pretty confident they'd know what as causing that. Drop me an IM or something.

if that's some integrated video, try an AGP/PCI-E (whatever your PC takes) video card like an ATI Radeon or something nice and see if that fixes it.

Then you could either have a PCI or PCI-E slot, PCI is for really old video cards, PCI-E is the nwest video card slot(so if you bought your computer this summer its possible)
If you dont have a PCI-E or AGP video card slot you are stuck with a really crappy PCI card that might not be as good as your onboard video.

Do the easiest thing first: Take it back, and get a new one. If the new ones doing it, then we can problem solve.

I heard flat screens don't resize properly. Their pixels are set for a certain resolution, and any other resolution is crap.
I'm no expert, but that's the way my laptop behaves. One, weird rez, all others, blocky, jaggy, and crappy.
