Post subject: Is Phil Ivey 'The best' poker player in the World?
|
#1 (permalink)

|
Is Phil Ivey "The Best" Poker player in the World? Or is Phil Ivey "One of the Best" Poker players in the World? Many people say that Ivey is the best, but what proof do they have to make that sort of blanket statement?
Do you agree with or disagree with that statement?
Discuss.

He transcends mere titles like "The Best" or "Phil Ivey."

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

I have no idea how he approaches the game differently from other professionals. I do however, know that he has had a lot more success than most professional players.
Option 2

Ivey's Political views are not part of this question. get over it allready, because I have.
Now try answering the original question without being sarcastic or don't reply at all. It's not that complicated.

Please explain for the slow (read "me") what level everyone is on here and then we can sort this out (quick wufwugy, CREATIONISTS!!!) or not depending on level...
Wow I'm confused.
Phil Ivey is one of the best, maybe the best but I don't know. Therefore I didn't vote.

But he might be the best. What makes me qualified to make the judgement that he is only "one of the best"?

If you could make a third option "I think he may be one of the best OR the very best, I am not entirely sure", I think that would be an acceptable compromise here.

ok lol I've been reading too much 2p2 I think I'll stop trolling this thread now.
sorry.
My actual sort of considered opinion is that he may well be the best, but poker is so fluid that at times other people are going to have an edge over him. He is not the best all of the time, he is almost definately not the best at every single poker variant. These issues mean that although he may well be the best all-round poker player in the world there is enough doubt about it to only vote for "one of the best".

I highly respect him as a poker player. As I do chris ferguson, alan cunningham, and daniel negreanu.
"The absolute best" is not something i'm qualified to comment on.

My opinions, and the opinion of everyone in this thread is worthless.
Furthermore, speculating about "who is the best in the world" is a juvenile endeavor reminiscent of public school. Next we'll be debating over who's dad is the toughest.
How's that for an opinion fucktards?

oh damn OG you caught me out there, I already voted for number 2 without the better options. I mentally retract that vote in favour of number 3 which is clearly a superior choice.

I agree with you here. Brad Booth is obviously the best player in the world. Why isn't that an option?
