Ok I just received an Mvix MV-4000U today. For those who don't know it's an external hard drive enclosure with video outputs to view your videos on just about any TV. I ordered it from newegg, and it came with a 160gb Seagate hard drive. I installed the hard drive, plugged in the power supply, and then hooked up to my Desktop PC (Windows XP SP2) via USB 2. I plugged it into 1 of 5 empty ports on the back of my PC. Well once I plugged it in I instantly got a "Power Surge on Hub" error, and the PC will not recognize it. It won't install the driver, and the hard drive doesn't show up in Disk Management to partition it. What do I do?

Were you supposed to plug it in before installing any drivers?

Just looked on their site and nothing was there. Try a diff pc or call their support would be my best advice.

Ya the manual said plug it in and windows should go ahead and install the drivers. I went ahead and contacted newegg for an exchange cuz I tried it with a self-powered usb hub and got the same error. The thing has its own power supply so this error should never happen anyways. Thanks for the reply though.
