So here is the deal. I am hoping somebody can suggest some way out of this that I have not thought of.
A while ago I cashed out some money from Netteller. I receive a check in the mail for $1600. The problem is that I live in Washington. Under the new law (passed a couple of months ago) one cannot legally receive $ from gambling. I am not concerned about this in the slightest and would think nothing of depositing this check into our account. My wife on the otherhand, is extreamly paranoid about such things and won't let me do that. She claims that if I even have our bank cash it then they will actually deposit it in our account and then withdraw the same thereby creating a paper trail...something she doesn't want. I have pleaded with her to loosen up to no avail.
The other way I can go is to cash it at someplace like money tree. I checked that out...they want $95 to cash it. Highway robbery if you ask me. I would be willing to pay up to $15 to cash it but $95 is just absurd.
Is there anyplace that will cash this for a reasonable fee?

Banks don't even know the check is from neteller, from my understanding.
And, no laws have made getting or receiving money from neteller illegal.
If i were you i'd explain that to her, then just deposit it.
sorry, i don't know of any cheap check-cashing places.

Yeah, unless it's illegal to cash checks from Neteller in Washington then you're okay. Just tell her that, and to quit being dumb. I have to tell mine that from time to time, lol.

The only questions should be asking is what do you want for dinner tonight and what position should we do tonight?

Phantaroth,
He's talking about the Washington state law that was signed some time ago, not the US law.
Eric,
If your bank has branches that aren't in Washington, can you bring the check with you and cash it the next time you take a trip out-of-state?

your check is from neteller, not from any online gambling site, neteller does business with places that are legal to interact with under washington state law, you have nothing to worry about.
