I'm a Freshman in college and a good friend of mine in high school was a year younger, so we kept in touch last semester playing Halo 2 on Xbox Live. I saw him over Christmas break and we got drunk and played Halo 2 at his dad's house. His dad got divorced when my friend was very young and always tried to be the "cool" dad...which was very cool when it came to alcohol. So I go back to school and don't see him on Xbox Live, which was a suprise considering we played every day the previous semester(I do mean EVERY day...sad but true). I figure he's got a lot stuff going on with classes and golf team and I don't want to call him and push him to play a video game with me.

So I get a call from a good friend of mine, who I played golf with in high school and is two years younger than me, to see if I wanted to play golf with him next weekend since he will be in town for a practice round. He tells me that my friend I discussed previously got caught with a small bag of pot, a pipe, and a pack of cigs by his dad. His dad proceeded to smash his pipe and iPod with a hammer right in front of him, made him eat the pack of cigs minus the filters, sold his 2005 Tahoe that he had put about $2000 worth of accessories on, banned him from everything except school , and took away his cell phone(he gave him one of those kid phones that can call 911 and 2 pre-set numbers...harsh). His life now consists of going to school, doing homework, and sitting in his room with no TV...what a senior year.

I guess drinking at 7 years underage is ok, but a little pot is the end of the world. Seems like weird parenting to me.

I never understood cool parents. My parents are far from cool but I have never been able to lie to them. I just never feel like it. It's probably becuase they never used punish me for the truth but I wouldnt be able to sit for a week if I was caught in a lie.

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

I don't know for sure, but I would say he did it because:
A. He is 18
B. He has no job at the moment
C. His dad is a doctor

I think he knows his dad will eventually get over it and will continue to support his lazy ass.

parents dont often disown kids so easily. People get enraged and do stupid things, if you play into these stupid things you are only promoting such behavior. This is the perfect time for reraise of the reraise, sure youre on a pure bluff, but if you dont be a man now, youll wont get respect for the rest of the tourney. What exactly happens if he refuses to go through with all this? Whats he gonna do, kick him out? Beat him? HAH! I wish my dad would have beat me, cuz he would be the one living with that guilt, and hes the one that would live with the fact that his son disowned him. The dad made a -ev play, the son followed suit by making an even more -ev play, thus saving the dad from facing the consequences of his bad play.

do I play poker too much? maybe..
