I don't think the idea is totally rubbish though. What it needs to do is give you an electric shock if you don't jump high or fast enough to clear the "rope", or don't do the programmed number of repetitions. This also has the added bonus of killing off all the fat and lazy people who can't complete the training shedule.

yeah, i think i still have one in the back of my closet actually. Used it for football/basketball conditioning in H.S.
