Anyone watch the Toney/Rahman fight on HBO just now? What a fuckin joke. How does one judge score it 117-111 and the two other judges score it 114-114. It ends in a draw. They need to either fight to the finish or get real judges. I say they fight till someone gets knocked the fuck out.

boxing is lame and people end up being vegetables.
MMA is much better.
Fight sports shoudlnt have judges, they should have no time limits and contestants shoudl fight till they: throw in the towel, give up, get knocked the fuck out, or when the ref decides that they are no longer competent.

I completely agree, I don't normally watch boxing (I also watch MMA). This fight gave me no reason to watch it again. It just happened to be the only thing on and it was a title fight so I figured I'd give it a shot. Pretty sad to me when a title contender (Toney) is 5'9" and weighs almost 240 lbs.

MMA will soon be lame if the UFC cant figure out that ground fighting is important and that stalling is just a result of the fact that there are judges and time limits.

Right, all you have to do is win the first 2 rounds in UFC and run around like a bitch in the 3rd.

Er, you need to consider the first statement and get it to jive with the second statement.
I boxed for the Penn State team as their Jr Welter, 1994.
I saw the Toney/Rahman fight and found it pretty entertaining to watch, though the scoring was crap. If Rahman weren't so well conditioned for the fight, Toney's right hands would have been doing some damage.
Anyway, there are still avid boxing fans out there like myself.

heavily padded gloves do more permanent damage to the brain than lightly padded gloves, which cause more superficial damage.
Repeated blows to the head vs. breaking ur arm at worst?
Id rather be Jacare and have a shattered forearm, then have brain trauma.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Correct. If boxing had no judges or time limits, fighters would die all the time. They don't wear those gloves to protect their heads; they wear them to keep from breaking their hands.
I agree that MMA is actually safer. I enjoy watching both, too, though. The lower weight classes in boxing are much more fun to watch, IMO.

Woops I misinterpreted wat easyt was saying when I answered his question the firs time.. I was just tyring to say that MMA should have no time limits, and even then the fighters woudl be in much less danger than fighters in boxing.
ROger Gracie is a beast, but after that match, how could anyone not love Jacare.
P.s. Curse u John McCain.
