Apparently, people seem to have the idea lately that changing names is the cool thing to do around here. Sorry, but this is getting ridiculous. I've set a precedent that I never should have.
I am no longer accepting requests for forum name changes unless someone's life or career is in jeopardy (in the case of one of the recent changes, it was career).
DO NOT ASK ME TO CHANGE YOUR FORUM NAME. YOU CHOSE YOUR NAME. DEAL WITH IT.

Id like to go with symbol, however not the word but the essense of the word. Ill leave how youll represent this with text up to you, but if you can not think of anything you may simply go with "the poster formally known as boost"

i thought all the name changes were the names just evolving and the poster realizing the original was inferior. like nobody was like 'hey boostnslide' but was like 'hey boost' and nobody was like 'hey trainer jyms' but was like 'hey jyms'. i can understand if i wanted to change my name from wufwugy to 'sneezingcarrot' or something totally unrelated, but if everbody called me 'wuf' or something and i wanted to change it to that it makes sense.
i guess i dont see the sense in not letting something like bigspenda73 not change to spenda if he wanted because its the same name but better and easier and all the good things. now if he wanted to change to 'crackwhorejones' then just tell him to fuck himself.

I used to have the forum set up so anyone can change their own names whenever. But once we automated the Gauntlet point-keeping and leaderboard, this was not an option, as the forum names are matched with the Stars names. Historical data is ruined when forum names are changed and a name change mid-season completely invalidates that player's points and ranking.
That, and we had some issues with pranksters impersonating other forum members. But the main reason is for the Gauntlet automation.
I'm not just being a dick about it.

I had some reasons for the change and went to X quietly last week with my reasons. I remembered what happened last time when bode asked for a change as well as others. I was hoping to slip under the radar to avoid exactly what happened. Sometimes we need a change and not just because we are Gemini. I didn't want it to effect others chances when they feel they really need one, not just because "it's the thing to do". Keeping the avatar kept it on the down low I thought.

I don't know why you're mad about it. People saw that others' names were getting changed so we assumed it was OK to get our names changed for trivial reasons. I'm sure none of the people who asked for a change would mind a simple "No, it's kind of a hassle."

my first user name like foreverrrrrr ago was lineof7s but I think it got deleted when all this fancy stuff came in. I took a long break inbetween that name and making this one. but still, maybe I was the original?!
edit: just went through 50 pages of names and found lineof7s is still there, and I was even worse at poker than I am now. made/quit ~Aug 2004, so not that long of a break, almost a year though. Can I get my join date changed to Aug 2004 to make me feel cooler?
