I have never seen an offense look so pitiful and helpless as the browns offense in this game. Maybe lee will elaborate.

somebody explain the "free kick rule" that allowed the Cardinals to attempt a 68 yard field goal with no defense in front of them. I've never seen one attempted and the fox announcers didn't explain it very well...

the analysis of the actual kick was perfect, comparing it to golf where you get out your big club and try to knock the absolute piss out of it but you duff it, thought it was pretty funny (but true) way to explain it.
I'm going to play basketball with friends, I expect a full report on the free kick when I get home.

i guess its just considered a kickoff but since theres a placeholder if it goes through the uprights it counts as a fieldgoal

they did an ESPN thing on odd rules in the NFL and that one came up. Like if you free catch it with no time left you get a free kick or something.

yeah, you can only attempt a free kick after you have fair caught a punt (or kickoff i guess).

Patriots four remaining games are seattle, oakland, arizona, and buffalo. The Jets have to play sf, buffalo, miami, and seattle. This is going to be a close one for the division. I feel pretty confident that patriots can win all 4. I'm not sure how the tie breaker works, we split the series with the jets. I'm hoping the jets will lose one of the remaining division matches. We'll have to see.

Thanks Jack and everyone else that replied. I could have googled it but I was heading out the door to play some basketball, figured I'd just ask and have the answer waiting for me when I got back. I appreciate it.
I heard a commentator on the Sunday Night staff (Collinsworth?) say that a NY/NY Superbowl is a real possibility....please, please, please no.

The Jets definitely have a shot, the AFC is wide open this year.

soo.....who are the guys coming out of college this year who are gonna be top 5ish picks?
the Hawks are 2-9 now and have games left against dallas , ne, rams, jets, and cards. 3-13 has got to be the best we can come up with.
with good draft positioning and some guys being healthy next year i really am hopeful this is a one year downswing. I sure do wish we could have kept zorn as our offensive coordinator though.

this isn't a knock on norv turner at all.. the chargers were 14-2 two years ago....... now they are 4-7. yet the guy who went 14-2 got fired and by all accounts, norv turner's job is quite safe.

turner was a mega fail with washington for like 8 years, mega fail at oakland i believe, and failing with sd. he is a terrible head coach.

He was only with Washington for 2 years and nobody can succeed in Oakland. Regardless, you're still probably right.. but my point was that they already had a fine coach in Marty S, playoff record notwithstanding.

Agree.. no way he goes top 5.
Love Beanie, but I'd be furious if the browns take him in the first.

from wiki:
Washington Redskins
In 1994, following his success with the Cowboys, Turner was hired as the head coach of the Washington Redskins. In seven seasons with the Redskins, he went 49–59–1. In 1996 Turner led the Redskins to a 7–1 start but finished the season 9–7. They made the playoffs only once, in 1999, where they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round.

Yea I'm not sure about Beanie in terms of injuries but when he's healthy he's got to be considered in the top 2-3 RBs in the draft.
If you look at the top-ranked teams a lot of them either use a RB by committee approach or just throw the ball so much it's difficult to tell who is really any good.
That kid at Michigan State was tearing it up early in the year but I forget his name or don't know if he'll be eligible.

whoops, I stand corrected. I read what you wrote the first time around and it seemed right but I wiki'd Norv Turner just to check, and they have a lot of his info wrong. They just have him listed as Skin's coach from 02-23, when I think Spurrier was coaching them. Weird, wiki is always right.
