There's been a lot of talk recently about net neutrality, thought I would see what your guys' opinion on this was.
Here's a wiki on it explaining it in detail if you have no idea

I prefer the free market internet. The free stands for freedom which all Americans support. If comcast wants to transfer 80% of my downloading capacity to big buisness, then I've just gotta roll up my sleeves and become a big buisness myself!

Here's an image of an example if net neutrality disappears.

I'm normally up to snuff on political issues, but have been lax of late. Perhaps I will take a look at this then provide the correct analysis. ha

week? plz downloading 1 movie is usually 700mb. shows around 150-350mb. albums around 75-125mb. if this were to happen i would die. on a financial note, this would probably bring revenue back to television.

There's too much money in this for it to never happen I think.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Google is a big proponent of net neutrality, which they would lose tons of revenue if this were to happen as well as lots of other large websites that depend on traffic.

Internet Based "Micropayments" have been encroaching on Net Neutrality for quite some time now. I think most companies are realizing there's bigger money in Micropayments than flatrate demands like cable.
I have a feeling they'll be suckling on that teet for a very long time, and I'm pretty sure they consider it to be more lucrative. Especially when we see that a lot of the "pre-pay for use" type systems are on the precipiece of failure. That new application that allows poeple to use their I-Phone as a VOIP reciever is drawing all sorts of Ire from AT&T and Apple is doing nothing to placate them at all.

I don't get the TYT hate. It's an unscripted internet show, haven't seen any better internet choices yet, it's more laid back, has wider variety, usually more accurate analysis, and funnier than just about all other political shows. It lacks heavy refinement, but who cares about that?
Cenk is often goofy, but he's also often spot on. I also doubt any hosting is a problem with TYT, but production and editing with the purpose of formatting to cable or network models. If Olbermann did his show from an unscripted webcam he would look much more like Cenk than expected

fuck the opposite of net neutrality yo.
there simply is no need for all of this. the costs incurred in metering and shit are simply much more than whatever they would hope to receive in return for payment, unless they actually start overcharging the shit out of everybody and have a normal net user cough up like $1000 to visit websites monthly
internet is supposed to be like it is today, and fuck anyone who sees bullshit like this as an avenue for additional revenue
greedy fucking scumbag assholes.

It appears that the recent decision is one of the steps towards making internet access more like cable tv i.e. customers pay more and established companies make more money, possibly way way more money. ISPs may be able to do things like make bandwidth for customers who want to access google.com expensive, but their own search engine is cheaper.
Over the long run, we could be seeing an internet that entirely mimics television i.e. customers are limited to cooperative channels/webpages based on how much they pay the provider. I'm far from positive on the details, but this could be terrible. It could even be that the ISPs get so fucking powerful that they limit bandwidth for any domain that doesn't pay them dues or something

On the bright side, it may be a semantics thing i.e. FCC may be able to reclassify internet access and thus regain their ability to enforce more neutrality.
I really don't know though because I haven't thoroughly examined the situation. Just doing a little reading is all
It does appear that if ISPs get what they want, neutrality becomes royally fucked, and websites like this one or 4chan or p2p filesharing or any company that isn't in bed with them will no longer exist

Fucking yikes. I hope these fuckheads die. This could be so so so so bad
U.S. court rules against FCC on Net neutrality - Security- msnbc.com
Light at end of tunnel

The more likely scenario, Scott believes, is that the agency will simply reclassify broadband as a more heavily regulated telecommunications service. That, ironically, could be the worst-case outcome from the perspective of the phone and cable companies.
"Comcast swung an ax at the FCC to protest the BitTorrent order," Scott said. "And they sliced right through the FCC's arm and plunged the ax into their own back."
