well actually, i have it hooked up just fine and can see my desktop and everything on the screen. My problem is playing a movie on my laptop and having it display on my TV. I have it hooked up using a standard monitor cable fwiw. I have these Divx movies ive downloaded but when i play them on my laptop the divx player shows up on my TV but the actual movie doesnt, it just shows a black screen.

Help please.

I had this problem and worked out how to fix it in like 10 minutes. Can't remember what I did though.

Hope that helps

I have that problem when playing a video on another monitor. I think my problem was because I have a wide screen lcd on the laptop and a regular monitor hooked up as a 2ndary. So when I drag the video from the widescreen to the regular screen- all I see is green where the video should be. The way I "fix" it is to just launch the program in the regular screen to begin with. Sometimes it works right away, and sometimes I have to refresh the page again and then it works.
Anyway, try it, might be a similar problem.

It may be that you need to set the LCD TV as the primary desktop and your laptop as the "moniter"... i had some similar problem and can't remember exactly how I fixed it... but in general VLC is great for running most any kind of file... a must have, imo.
So you click their picture and then you get their money?

i have no problem getting the desktop image to appear on the TV. The problem is when i start the divx movie, it plays normal on the laptop screen but on the TV screen, the place where the movie is supposed to play is just black. its like everthing but the actual video translates but the video is moving too fast for the monitor cable to handle or something? idk.

the laptop is 7 years old fwiw but has been reformatted in the last year and runs decently.

If they're different resolutions I could imagine this causing an issue.

yea I can't flip between my two monitors(WS and STD) without reloading the vid. Try having the player on your TV before loading the movie. It has to do with resolutions for sure.
