I'll accept the MW over the ACC if you acknowledge that the Big East is LOL bad and shouldn't be slashed with the ACC, who is just ha-ha bad.

edit, actually I take that back. I thought Boise was MW this year. ACC> Big East/MW.

    MWC has

    TCU (Beat #5 Wisconsin)
    Utah (lost to BSU)
Air Force (Beat Georgia Tech...from the ACC)
SDSU (whipped a pretty good Navy team)
BYU (down year but still went bowling and won big)

I'll concede the ACC is better than the Big East

    That's what I was thinking.

He was redshirted his So. year but they took it off since their starter was the NCAA equivalent of Jake Delhomme.

This TE that's supposed to be taking over Taylor's spot doesn't look like a bad replacement though.

Oh man, silly NCAAF rule about being down without people touching you. DAYUMMMMMM

Ohio State, you should try less hard at giving the game away!

    no idea.

guess: both rules are basically arbitrary, one chose one and the other chose the other

if arkansas scores there at the end, is their punter the MVP? that has to be the best punting + coverage ever.

Talk about a meltdown. I thought for sure that they were going to hand the game to Rkansas. tOSU did a total 180 in the second half. But that's typical Tressel ball.

Auburn FTW not just because I gradimated from there but because they are the better team.

I'm a rarity in Alabama because I graduated from Auburn but I'm an Alabama fan (I went to Alabama too)

gg...guess spenda +ensign lee were right and i was wrong, i guess when you have over a month to prepare even the most dynamic offenses can be solved.

one thing about that play where dyer took it to the 23 with like a minute left or w/e....its kinda shitty for oregon bc he was standing there as if the play was over, so if they go up and lay him out they are almost certainly going to get a penatly..but yea gg, auburns d played lights out and fairly had an incredible game...both qb's looked pretty human imo...dyers gonna be nasty...
  28. #253
my question about if he was down....what about the play in the Ohio State/Arkansas game where they said his wrist hit the ground so he was down? same thing here, right? not that this one play makes or breaks anything, but still.

either way, fun game to watch. a friend that wasn't watching the game texted me and said, "wow, third quarter and it's only 19-11. offenses are sucking, huh?" Nope, the defenses were pretty good...

  29. #254
did we just witness the worst close game in BCS history?
  30. #255
Philly, I think the 5+ weeks are more detrimental to the O than the D, no rhythm whatsoever in the first quarter for either team.

Also Auburn wasn't even that good of an SEC defense. I was really happy with how A&M's O performed against LSU who along with Bama and TCU were probably the 3 elite Ds in CFB this year.

yea i agree about them not even being that great, i pointed out earlier itt that they allowed some numbers this year. And i also agree about the huge hiatus being more beneficial for the D.

it will be awesome next year when TCU plays undefeated pac/big 10 team x and the SEC doesn't get a chance to go for 6 in a row.

    you play through the whistle...

    no whistle = keep tackling

yeah that wrist call had to be one of the goofiest ever, to my eyes both guys were not down. seems like they should clarify the rule to say ELBOW is down, below that is up.
  37. #262
    from TMQ:
Should the play have ended? NCAA rules say a runner is down if "any part of his body other than his hands or feet" contact the ground, and it sure looks on replay like his wrist was on the ground, ending the play. Dyer clearly thought the down was over! Kevin Lehde, a high school football official in North Carolina and a TMQ co-conspirator, notes that when Dyer stood up and made no attempt to advance, his forward progress stopped, and officials could have ended the play for that reason: "The rule book is clear that the runner going down stops the play, not the whistle. If Dyer himself thought he was down, I would be fine with the official blowing the play dead while he's rolling over the defender, with the explanation that his forward progress was stopped."

There's a point that announcers often get wrong. At the high school, NCAA and NFL levels alike, it's the action of the play, not the whistle, that ends the play: The whistle is only a signal to stop. If a player drops to the ground and the whistle doesn't sound, then a defender pile-drives into the player, that can be flagged as a late hit -- "late" despite no whistle, because the action of the play has ended the play. As Dyer was rolling over the Ducks' defender, Oregon's Zac Clark pulled up and did not dive into Dyer. Clark thought the action of the play had ended the play, and was avoiding a late hit. Had Clark driven his body into Dyer, the 37-yard run never would have occurred. But there's a high likelihood officials would have thrown a flag for unnecessary roughness, judging the down was ended -- though the replay booth later said the down had not ended.

The 'Noles currently have the nation's #1 class per ESPN, featuring 11 ESPNU150 players -- the most in the country and more than the rest of the ACC combined.

    Good, the ACC needs it.

We lost Ryan Williams to the draft as well, he's like the #4 or 5 RB on some boards.

Yeah, I think college football would benefit from coaches with less salary and less turnover.

He was good, but it's common to think "For X million dollars, we should have better."

I'm a fan of finding a good coach and sticking with 'em. Tressel is a good coach.

I'm disappointed in the Tressel resignation (firing?) and can't help but look at what has happened to USC the last couple years as a recent historical precedent.

no one wants better, we just need (not want) clean. has nothing to do with football or salary.

    There are two options:

    a) most/all big programs are dirty
    b) osu is dirty

if it's b, you have to fire tressel.

But we all know it's A. This stuff happens at all legit programs. It's part of being legit. So the trick is to hid it better than everyone else. Once people start looking, you get caught always. These are 19 year olds, not white collar crime experts.

So the only thing you can do when it gets to this point is fire the coach and act like it was his fault. That kills most of the media. then you sit around and wait for someone else to get caught and that kills the rest. The people who are really high 5ing this week are at USC. Soon enough something else will happen (Cam Newton maybe) and OSU can go back to being nice and clean.

this is actually a bad beat for you guys I think. Still a great chance to beat OSU obv but you were going to get the

'super controversial squad with Tress and the gang all coming back trying to find a rhythm on the road in a big game'

    now you may get

'us against the world we have no bowl game so we have to win the regular season title and a QB with no car' team.

Spurrier proposes new way to pay athletes - SEC Blog - ESPN

at least its a start.....300 a game doesnt seem like much, thats what 3600 a year -___-...obviously this isnt goign to fly, like the article says, theres no way just 1 league would be paying its players in 1 sport, it would hvae to be some sort of national legislation. But still at least we get people talking.

Hopefully they'll be forced to fire their coach so we don't have to play that lame-ass triple option offense.

The story is hilarious though, I fucking hate Miami with a passion.

Renegade Miami football booster spells out illicit benefits to players - Investigations - Yahoo! Sports

Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro described a sustained, eight-year run of rampant NCAA rule-breaking, some of it with the knowledge or direct participation of at least seven coaches from the Miami football and basketball programs. At a cost that Shapiro estimates in the millions of dollars, he said his benefits to athletes included but were not limited to cash, prostitutes, entertainment in his multimillion-dollar homes and yacht, paid trips to high-end restaurants and nightclubs, jewelry, bounties for on-field play (including bounties for injuring opposing players), travel and, on one occasion, an abortion.

NC State had an overall great game. We were able to pull away from Liberty late in the 4th quarter.

NC State had an overall great game. We were able to pull away from Liberty late in the 4th quarter.
The ACC in orange and maroon are solid state. 1 and 0 was the only thing holding us back these past few years.

QB for App State knows. He said he wouldn't classify the Hokies as an elite team. I can't even imagine what's greater than elite.
