Post subject: my girlfriend has mono (GABE* help)

This is really just a couple questions for gabe...
1. How long did it take you to get over it, and what if any drugs did you use to help you?
2. how is she feeling so i can make her feel better during this shitty time?

i had it for about 5 weeks. i was drinking alot during the first week because i didnt know i had it, so that might have affected it.
i didnt get any drugs.
i was grouchy all the time, so dont think she is snapping at you if she gets this way too.
give her soup and water and dont give alcohol

I would try to keep her as occupied as possible. However, don't force anything on her, or baby her, because grown people dont like that stuff. She wants to be coddled. Bring her movies, but don't make a big thing about it, jsut leave them on the table. Buy the fancy soups at the store, not the cheap 38 cent tomato soup. Spoil her.. all she can eat it soup, really. Gatorade has some good stuff in it, get some some of that.
Back massages are +EV.
Leave her a bottle of advil or tylenol close by.
Anyways, theres a start. hopefully other people can give you some ideas

Whoa...Gabe, you didn't take anything? I don't think I could have survived without the damn throat medicine that tasted like shit but really really helped after a few days.

i had STREP and took something for that, but that wasnt mono
my symptons were just fatigue and no appetite

It's important that she stay moderately active. Don't make her scrub the floors or anything, but some dusting and vacuuming won't kill her. Soup is a good idea. Make sure she makes you an extra bowl or two while she is at it. She can still have sex too. Since she is sick though I'd skip the kissing and other foreplay. She probably won't have a ton of energy so be considerate and just stick to 3-4 minute quickies. I'd try to stay out of her way so she can recover. Maybe you could use the time to put in a couple extra rounds of golf or go out drinking with your friends. It would also be nice to try and cheer her up a little. Since she probably won't have much of an appetite you can point out that now she might finally be a to lose a few pounds.
