The wife and I are heading to Vegas on the 13th of August. Looking for some info........

1) What would be a good hotel to book at?
2) What's the name of the water park?
3) Shows to see? (like Blue Man Group)
4) Good places to eat? (cheap as well as nice meals)
5) Good poker rooms for 1-2 ish NL?

Someone mentioned before that taxi drivers will try and milk a few extra $$ from you if they know it's your first time there. It was mentioned that you should just tell them to "take the tunnel" or something like that. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Well if you never leave the strip they cannot screw you

Also, I think it's Frank Sinatra drive (if memory serves me correct) that is the backway off of the strip, google map it and you can figure it out.

1. Hotels-for you and the wife I'd say Mandalay Bay, it's very nice, on the nice end of the strip, and has a lot of great stuff (shopping, shows, awesome pool)
2. Lol water park
3. Blue man is awesome, Danny something or other was hilarious
4. Everywhere is good, there's actually what I thought was a good Italian joint in the area that connects Mandalay to the Luxor I think. Walk around the casinos though, you can see the menus near the entrance of each restaurant with their prices.
5. All rooms will spread a good 1-2 game, the casinos on the strip that aren't as upscale probably have the softest games.

Mandalay Bay is sick, but it's at the very end of the strip.

Next time I go, I will probably be staying either there or at The Venetian.

For shows, the only one I saw was Mystere at TI and it was amazing.
If you've ever seen the movie Knocked Up, Mystere is the show they go see when they are fucked on mushrooms.

Personally I still prefer the MGM, but I've stayed there three times... Venetian looks awesome, but when in Vegas before, i was a slot player, Ventian was too tight for me. I preferred Caesar's or MGM for my play.

I have seen a lot of shows while there, look for concerts by stars you want to see, look for comedians, Carlin in Vegas was AWESOME a few years back, 3rd row.

Anyway, enjoy yourself no matter what you are doing, remember it is Vegas and get a little crazy... the clubs are amazing, drinks are over the top when you appreciate the help...

If you are CR member there is a little but good guide to Las Vegas on their video page. I might not be a popular opinion but I like to stay at New York, New York. Poker at the Wynn was good when I was there.

Just returned from a week in Vegas

1/2 mini reviews:
Sahara - ATM. Possibly worst 1/2 players in Vegas. Kinda cheap room though. Nice, cheap $65 tournament
Treaaure Island - Nice room, $2/hr comps(very good), mediocre-to-bad players.
Wynn(2/5) - one of the tougher rooms but beautiful. 1/3 probably a tad easier(did not play but some friends did). All games nomax buyin so watch out.
Venetian(1/2 & 2/5) - Very nice, huge room. Found some good tables here

Goto Red Rock - absolutely georgous hiking/views, only 35 min away

Might try the Hilton Grand Vacation Club on the Strip or at the Flamingo(there's another that is off the strip that is too far to walk) if you don't want/need to stay at a casino. Rooms are probably nicer than many casinos at comparable or cheaper prices.

Can always just catch a shuttle for $6 each.
