Just curious guys, but what programs do you guys use to download your free music/albums/movies/porn?

It's been a while since I've done some downloading, and the sites I used to go to (Suprnova, Kazaa) don't seem to work anymore. Just want to find out what the best options are... Thanx!!!

I used to use Napster (when it was free), then Kazaa, then Limewire and Gnucleus and everything else.

My computer got so bogged down with spam, ads, pop-ups, spyware and everything else, that I use Windows Media Player, and iTunes now.

Advantages:
- I always get what I ask for, no mislabeled songs
- Never had a single spyware, pop-up, etc.
- Never any copyright protection keeping me from hering my song
- I don't have to look over my shoulder for the Feds to make an example of me.

Also, I mostly download songs from small bands. The New Amsterdams, The Decemberists, Shout Out Louds, etc. And when I steal their music, I always feel bad. They are a new band, and they need the money, and the numbers that say people are listening to them. If it were Pearl Jam, The Beatles, etc, I wouldn't have any guilt about stealing revenue from them, but the small bands are a different story.

It's well worth $.99 / song.
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

Music downloading is illegal and shameful. How dare you use such good programs as cough soulseek cough or cough Ares cough. Downloading music is the work of scum and every last one of you should be punished and put in jail. Especially those of you who take advantage of the unique wishlist feature that soulseek has. Basically what this illegal and shameful feautre does is you put hard to find things in your wish list and it will continually search for them until it finds them.

You should all be ashamed of youselves and definately DOnt try soulseek.

While we're on the subject. What's a good, free MP3 ripper?

The downside to using Windows Media Player and iTunes and everything is I need to burn and rip them to come up with a good musical mix.

Used to use WinMX, but there are now more viruses on that than there are songs.

So now I use LimeWire, that is second to none.

CDEX is a pretty good ripper, it's basic but it does everything and it's truly free i believe.

big red is right. soulseek is absolutely the WORST music downloading program, that should NOT be downloaded under any circumstances. people who like viruses and adware will be sorely disappointed with soulseek, and those who enjoy bad files and bad labels will agree with me - soulseek is the worst!!

CDEX is what you want humph. I'm sorta getting into bittorrent nowadays, esp. Azureus. I'm actually in favor of legal downloads, Cf Artists for File Sharing (in its infancy)

It's ugly. redesign it for me if you want.

Is there anywhere to get full music videos? My brother is bugging me all the time about finding music videos online. He just got his sounds done in his car, and has a 9" tv in the dash, and he only has 1 dvd of music videos that the sound people gave to him. Im building a computer for him and Im going to get a TV tuner for him so he can rip them from tv, but I was wondering if there was a place I could get em now.

Make sure you install a good IP blocker to protect your security and privacy. Methlabs has a good one called Peer Guardian.
