I'm getting an MP3 player but I don't know what to get. I only need something that will do like 2-3 hrs of music. I don't need/want video or anything like that. I want something small enough to where it can go in my pocket or whatever. Will be used when jogging mostly. I know that Ipod is pretty much king right now but I'd also like to hear about some other options as well.

I went for a 30GB Creative Zen (its an old one now, 1.5yrs) and its lasted me really well and has great software / useability. A word of warning, my friend got an IRiver and it lacked the ability to create a playlist!? (that was about a yr ago) Crazy, but something to look out for.

It depends on how fancy or small you want it to be, but theres some nice creative zens out there and Id choose it over the Ipod (I havent actually used Ipods but like to be a bit different and imo with Ipod you'll be paying some costs just for the fact its ipod (all their advertising etc) and im sure zens would not be inferier.

Your best option would be to browse around a bit and find a few you like then check out the amazon reviews - theyre always very helpful before buying.

iPod is said to be overpriced, but it is simply unbeatable in quality.

I have a Nano, you should get one too if you only need 2-3 hours (Nano can do a couple of days worth :P).

Thanks for the links. I really like the Zen Neeon. I'm gonna look more into that one. I guess they also have it in 512MB, 1,2 and 6GB but I can't seem to find anything other than the 5GB.

If you play enough at party, you can use your player points.

I have a 1gig player I picked up dirt ass cheap. It has PLENTY of music. You 60gig people are just nuts.

Why do I need 30 gigs? Thats what my computer is for. I'm only looking to take a couple hours of songs with me and I don't need the video. Actually I'm going to be getting a PSP soon but I can't really jog with that. Alot of my MP3 needs will be taken care of when I get my PSP but when I'm being mobile I want something small.

U could get a creative muvo - they are about the size of 2 packs of gum and come with FM tuner and mic so u can listen to the radio and record stuff too along with record the radio if u wanted to. I got my 256MB version of a fatwallet thread for like 19.99 and it holds a few hours of stuff. I think normally they are in the 50s u could probably get one on ebay for 30-40 maybe even cheaper. Ive never had a problem with it. Takes 1 triple A battery that lasts I dont know 10-15 hours somewhere.
