After years and years wrecking the Lions with poor decisions, you're looking at:
1 Year of controversy where no matter who the lions install as an interrim GM He'll be compared against Matt Millen favorably/unfavorably depending on whether the lions win or not.
3 years of "rebuilding through the draft". That's IF the GM picked after Millen is any good.
Finally after 3 years of rebuilding through the draft, you may have playoff relevancy.
See you in 4 years.

First of all, no one is going to compare whoever the new GM is this year to Millen based on this season. Any intelligent person realizes that the players/coaches Millen brought in will be playing out this season and many will be with the team for a while. Most fans realize that this doesn't mean we are going to be good anytime soon, it just means that there is actually hope now.
Second, the scenario you mentioned is 100000000 times better than "we are stuck with Millen through 2010". Once again, there is hope now.

if my estimations are correct, this was done purely because of the millen-public-relations-nightmare, and the lions organization (read: mr. ford) has no plan whatsoever to right the ship and will probably promote a front office member slightly more clueless than millen himself into his position.
i predict doom n gloom for the lions for the next 10 years

Sounds about right. It always starts at the top. If your ownership is as clueless as the Lions' then you don't have much of a chance unless you get lucky and hire a good GM by accident.

I know somewhat how you feel - when we finally let most of the coaching staff go after we went 2-14 and when we finally released Carr, I felt about the same way. And that was only for <5 years. Yeeesh, I can't imagine how elated you are now.
