Truly a no-brainer.
Starbucks has dozens of finely crafted coffees to accommodate a truly wide variety of tastes...if you bother to do a little exploring beyond the coffee of the day.
McDonalds, to their credit, decided to move beyond the yak piss one gets at fast food franchises and cafes, and offer up a medium roast arabica bean that is superb relative to all of their competitors.
For me, Starbucks Ethopian Sidamo, Kenyan, Kimodo Dragon Blend or the creme de la creme Sumatran, are always amongst my first choices...McDonalds in a pinch.

since i know a bunch of useless shit i might as well point out that there is a strong correlation between coffee consumption and the rise of democracy. this is going to be largely related to, due to water toxicity, the leading people of the time consuming something other than alcohol all the time, but probably also somewhat because of the introduction of a stimulant to life and places of gathering (coffeehouse)

the article asked what would you rather have in your neighbourhood. I don't think they rated how much you liked their coffee.
I think i would prefer a mcdonalds because they offer cheap, easy food and im not fond of $4 slices of cake. If it was just coffee, starbucks easy call. Its really not that much more, sure its 50% more for a large but whats another $.70 a day for some bomb coffee?

They're both terrible. You once again epically fail at thread creation.

Starbucks, no doubt. You can have a McDonalds in any neighborhood, but Starbucks are only in commercial areas or neighborhoods with high median income.
That, and the only things worth eating from McD's are the fries, McGriddles, and McMuffins. Everything else sucks so hard I don't see how people put it in their mouths. Bleh.
Coffee all day, every day from Starbucks. YUMMY.

Starbucks is better. And actually I think Burger King has much better coffee now then McDonalds. They don't have all the fancy stuff but for just man coffee BK's Turbo coffee is damn good. But Starbucks is still WAY better.

So true. When all the 'taste tests' came out a few years ago saying McDonald's coffee was preferred over Starbucks, it just confirmed my theory the the general population is stupid.

Well I voted McDonald's since I do not drink coffee! Hate the smell and site of it! It just looks like what I do in the toilet with out lumps.
By the way the last time I went to McDonald's was last month, they would be bankrupt if every one went as often as I do!
KFC and Tim Hortons more often, I like chicken , chili and doughnuts !

The smell of coffee is one of the greatest smells in the world. You have been smelling the rest rooms at the local convenience store. Thats not the coffee, its the urinal cakes.
I boycotted KFC after I went there to get a 3 piece chicken dinner for my wife and they charged me over $9. Are you fucking kidding me. I'm from a small town in Iowa so shit is cheaper but I can almost go to a decent local steakhouse and get a chicken dinner with soup and salad and drink AND tip for not much more. Kiss my ass if you think I'm paying that for your heat lamped bird. We have the KFC/Taco bell though so they still get my money for good cheap fast food mexican. I can get 3 bags chock full of taco's or 1 three piece chicken dinner, wonder which one I'll pick. Duh.
Oh and McDonalds, if you would just do the egg McMuffin all day I would never go anywhere else. Don't even have to do a whole breakfast menu, just the McMuffin. How damn hard can that be. Bar traffic would triple, swear.

If they didn't pull out of the country my vote would be solidly behind Starbucks but since they did, fuck 'em.

I went to starbucks once and wasn't impressed with the coffee... or the interior... or the customers. What a yuppie wet dream. For that reasons my vote goes to Mc Donalds. But I much prefer pretty much any kind of regular restaurant. Many of them are not much more expensive. Some chinese restaurants are even cheaper and offer much better quality in everything.

Starbucks coffee beans are capable of brewing palatable coffee, but if you compare across standard drip coffees produced by the two places, I'll actually take McD's.. it's cheaper.. and for some f'd up reason, Starbucks seems to BURN their drip coffee given it some off acidic taste that is just gross.

I generally hear this complaint for people who don't like stronger coffee. Starbucks coffee is typically roasted darker and brewed stronger. I think it's wonderful, but the folks I know who don't like it say it as an acidic taste. I don't taste that at all, and it's really hard to over-extract a coffee bean using the drip method. I think it's just too strong for some people's taste. McDonalds coffee is palatable, but I always think it tastes too weak.

I doubt that's it; as I enjoy all measure of very strong coffee... espresso included... I even have made my own coffee (always v strong) with Starbucks beans that doesn't have that burnt taste in it. If you LIKE it i think that's fine.. many people must, but it's def not from being "strong".
