dude, it was fuckin AMAZING. and i thought crosby's goal was good. i've only seen it once, but the basic idea is that he faked the forehand, the puck went BACKWARDS between his feet, and he shot it after the fake. can't remember what kind of shot it was, i'll watch it again and get back to ya
damn, vancouver used to have malik too ...

Im surprised he got so much power and lift on it.

Man this is a classic move we did when i was in small time hockey. At the end of practices we would have a shootout competition where the people who score keep going. I remember it was my team captain vs. a defensemen and my team captain did that and i owned him with a beautiful glove side save. The defense came down and i just moved out of the way so he could win. Went and took a shower with the team.
You know i have to throw in a little homosexuality for you Ake

I have seen a guy do that on my team during a practice at the end doing shootouts.
Thats also the kind of shot if you fuck up you get laughed at for a year, he coulda tripped over his stick and face planted the goal post instead of scoring

Mario Lemieux did that move years ago against the Canucks (Kirk Maclean). The difference being Lemieux wasnt on a penalty shot. He cut in off the left wing around a defenceman and roofed it from just outside the crease, I think the defenceman was still harassing him too.

Ballsy to try in an NHL game, but remember it's a shootout and there was no pressure on him:
- As a defenseman he's more or less expected to miss
- Washington had already missed their shot, so the shootout continues if Malik misses
Perfect time to try it. Just about everyone in the NHL can pull it off. Heck, everyone on my college hockey team can do it. It takes about 5 minutes of practice if you have any stickhandling skills at all.
