How many of you have watched this show Man vs. Casino. He has lost 3 million bucks in vegas and wants revenge. The guy now has 1 million left and plants to take down Las Vegas. He gives away some of his money to random people and is very loud and border line annoying. Do any of you watch this show? how can he plan to make money that has odds tipped towards the house.. its ridiculous...

He's probably compensated quite well by the network to make up for whatever losses the house gives him. It's a show for rednecks who gamble a lot, I think.

Where is this show?
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

By sensing how "heavy" or "light" the cards are to know whether to bet on the bank or the player.

But seriously, he has a pretty plausible strategy. He bets 1K the first hand. If he loses, he bets 2 K, then 4K if he loses and so on. This way he always ends up
ahead.

Its a perfect strategy, he wins every time. (Except for that one time he lost 256,000 , but that was only because he got REALLY unlucky.

this guy rules. check this out

Armed with $1 million of his own money, an eccentric high roller will seek revenge on Las Vegas and attempt to win back the $3 million that he "lost there in the late 1990s.

Daren had it all -- home, family, career, cars and $3million in the bank -- before he gambled it away. As he seeks to settle an old score with the city that once nearly bankrupted him, we will see what it means to be a true Vegas "Whale" through the eyes of an ordinary tourist. He is more than a man with a mission -- he is a man with heart. After selling most of his assets, Daren hits the tables of Vegas armed with $1 million of his own money and steely determination. Daren becomes a sort of Vegas Robin Hood, winning money for the weekend tourists who were playing next to him, tipping struggling cocktail waitresses thousands of dollars, buying cars for complete strangers and just plain giving money away. "I'm doing this for anyone who's ever lost," says Daren, who lives his credo of "go big or go home." Regardless of whether he redeems himself or falls victim to Vegas again, Daren changes the lives of everyone he meets. "

so after vegas ruined his life, why not go and sell everything you own to show the city a thing or two! DEGENERATE GAMBLING AT ITS FINEST.

he talks in an interview on the website (http://www.cmt.com/shows/dyn/man_vs_vegas/series.jhtml) about a night he went to vegas THREE TIMES on a private plane, flying back and fourth from his house, going to a bank vault and taking out 50k, 100k and 200k at a time. sweet.

anyway, its fun to watch, since he's real generous with everyone there... but he's doing terrible (from what I saw) he seems like a really smart, genuinely nice guy with a major gambling problem. He's advocating playing games where he knows the house in the long run has major odds... and he's playing this for the long run. His strategy majorly consists of screaming "NO MONKEY" or "MONKEY"... its great

lol doubling your bet everytime is the dumbest thing you can do... expecially if you start at 1k... I am assuming he is playing BJ? This stragey is only profitable if you literally have unlimited money... when he lost that 256k, imagine if he lost the next 3 hands... odds of that happening arent too slim... if he lost the next 3 hands he would have lost over 2 million.

Odds of losing 8 hands in a row is slim, but it happens alot, alot more then you profitting 1000 units by betting 1k.

1k,2k,4k,8k,16k,32k,64k,128k,256k,512k,1024k,2048k

I made a program before that just picks a random number between 0 and 1... if it was above .5 or above casino wins, if it was below .5 casino loses.. then I had a counter to count the # of times the casino won in a row, after running through like 400 hands over numerous sessions, ive seen times where the casino win 24 times in a row.

In other words, I think hes gonna lose all his money.

*EDIT*... if he isnt playing BJ his stragey is even dumber ! lol

Nope, he's playing EVERYTHING.

Even challenging some pro poker player to a HU match for 20k or so.

I just can't bring myself to believing this guy is for real. I don't think his "background story" is very credible, he's just a character that someone made up and is using to make an interesting show. It's a show for people who don't know about statistics and probability, or choose to ignore it and believe that it's something else that causes them to lose their pension/welfare check/kids' college fund at the casino.

FROM THE SITE:

Quote:
Man vs. Vegas is Daren's story of redemption against the town that drove him to the brink of disaster. He's sold everything he owns to put together his last $1 million in cash. That's the ammunition Daren needs to take on Las Vegas, one game at a time -- until he wins back all his money or loses everything he has left trying. All along the way, Daren gambles with anyone and everyone that he feels can bring good luck to his mission. Some of these people win life-changing amounts of money on the turn of a card and some just share in the experience of betting like a real high roller at least once in their lives.
Honestly, who's buying this bullshit?

If you read more, he was a VC (venture capitalist) during the dot com era... and we all know that was basically gambling... throw tons of money at a bunch of companies, hope one or two go IPO and become rich. He got hooked up with a top firm, got the right opportunity and had his first taste of throwing money and hoping it sticks

that's what started his gambling... made him money and made him lose it all. sweet
