good lord that's a lot of hours
I think I've only done a 24-26 hour period in my history of university, and that was early on. Now I'm near the end and if I'm not ready for something the night before, I say fuck it and just go to sleep.
I'm gonna be doing that tonight, hooray.

I did 60 hours my freshman year. I was then I can't get out of bed sick for 3-4 days. My roommate had a whip and was whipping the air, except he clipped the smoke alarm setting it off. It took over an hour to get a janitor to come up, check it out and fix it. I was too sick to move and wanted him to die a slow painful death.
2nd time in Vegas I slept for 4 hours out of 64 I think. Really I recommend 4 hours a night whether you need it or not. 4-6 is a good amount because you wake up and you're still drunk so you by-pass hangovers.

I did 54 hours, working almost the entire time. I used to work two jobs and this was a time where I was finishing one job in favor of a new one, so basically 3 different jobs worth of shifts in that time. I had at most 2 hours between shifts, sometimes less. This was followed up by an awesome 32 hour sleep.

I go 28 hours somewhat regularily whenever I'm trying to get back to a regular sleep schedule. Of course this never works, after a few days I'm all fucked up again.
My longest is probably between 44 and 48 hours during maneuvers when I was in the army. Lack of sleep combined with no food and extremely low temperatures leads to some funny hallucinations - I once radioed in "a company of midgets is approaching our position". Another time I fell asleep while standing and talking to another member of my squad. Yet another time I woke up lying on my back with a snowmobile on top of me - the driver had lost control and flipped over while I was sleeping on the back of it. They thought I'd passed out, but I was just pushed deep into the snow and didn't feel a thing - I just kept sleeping.
Ah, good times .

I went on field trip to Tenerife when I was at uni, to look thru telescopes at stars & stuff.
The day started at around 6am, but our flight was delayed so we didnt get to our accommodation till just intime for the evening meal, then we were straight out onto the telescope for the first night.
Worked thru till 6am, and no matter how tired you are going to sleep at 6am is impossible!
I think it was about 30 hours in total, seemed like much longer I suppose cus of the travelling.
I got no more than 3 hours sleep a night (a day I suppose) that whole week.

There's already been a longest sleep thread right? I fit into that category better, having slept more than 20 hours before.
I'd say for me the max I could stay awake is 24 hours, and that'd be stretching it. In general I'm a very sleepy/tired human being.

Let's be honest. Up to 36 or so is cake. I did that a couple weeks ago. Once you made it through the first night, your body gets back into waking hour rhythms. You kinda go on cruise control but your body isn't real tired unless you let it shut down, like laying on a couch or something.
Basically wake up Fri. 6am(Normal time) work, go home, hang out, wife goes to bed, play poker all night, baby wakes up at 5am Sat. morning, stay up the rest of the day Sat. and get to bed about 9pm Sat. night.
I also did 66 hours w/ only 5 hours of sleep on my last trip to Vegas. 2 marathon poker sessions, 2 rounds of golf in Vegas' Sept. heat, 2 nights of heavy drinking, & a strip club. I was so wiped I actually fell asleep at a $1200 dinner on Sat. night at Aureole.

I was going to say crazy, but like silly said it's not too hard and I remember I used to do it too.
My freshmen/sophomore year my normal bedtime was 3am, so staying awake 3-4 more hours was no big deal, after sunrise it's cake the rest of the day. I used to do this once a week and get all my homework done so I could drink 5-6 nights a week.

No one else found it shocking tht Bigred is the one advocating paying attention in class? Based on your FTR persona, it just doesn't fit.

Ya like friday and sat night I'd go on a bender and sleep till 3pm on Sunday. So then I wouldn't be able to sleep till like 5am Sunday night and have to be up at 8 for college. When you get to the point where your only gonna get to sleep for 3 hours or less then you're better off just staying awake IMO.

No. When school isnt in session (now) my "day" isnt 24 hours long since I have nothing I need to wake up in the morning for. I'd estimate I average close to 16 hours awake, 16 hours asleep which makes like 36 hours in a "day".

I used to think like this too, but I suspect it's not very good thinking at all. Usually what would happen is I'd be falling asleep during class, deciding to just say fuck it and go home a few hours early, go to sleep at like 2pm and then be fucked for the rest of the week. I really think I'd be better off sleeping from 5AM to 8AM and then riding it out until like 10pm.
Nowadays I just go to sleep when Im tired and wake up whenever .

When I wasnt in school I would fall into a similar schedule. Its very bad for your mental health I can assure you. You develop this feeling that you are tumbling, time being a very steep snow covered mountain. It doesnt hurt, but all that tumbling is tiring, you just want to stop and have a rest. Its a very strange feeling.
As for my longest, Its definitely 60+ hours. When I used to be into starcraft back in the day I would get home from school and play all through the night, then go the school in the morning. I still remember being in class and hearing zerglings and stim packing marines, "sttttahhhhhhh yeah!" Im pretty sure that I burnt myself out early in my life. I find it increadibly difficult to do more than 20 hours nowadays.
