It's doubtful that he'll go to prison.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

I can't comprehend why the guy would be in the United States in the first place, especially after the neteller fiasco.

if I had 400 mil, Id gladly pay 300mil to be able to come to the states without fear of prosecution. Wtf are you gonna do with 400mil that you cant do with 100mil? Srsly, what are you gonna do? Commission the building of a 1/4 scale replica of the earth?

I could name a lot of things you could do with $400m as opposed to $100m, but in the context of 1 person, of course it wouldn't his/her quality of life much, if any.
I was under the impression that dikshit was a multi-billionaire though but I might be mistaken.
That said, from the article, it was a $300m FINE (i.e. not a voluntary contribution). And I cannot imagine any scenario where he'd want to fork over that kind of money to the government that screwed him over, to visit a country that he probably doesn't like much anyway.
Then again, I'm not sure why an Indian billionaire who the U.S. government was obviously after ever stepped foot in the U.S. under any circumstances.

If I was Dikshit, I'd take that $300m and change my name to something really funny like Cuntflap.

right, Im pretty sure he is a billionaire too, but I went way "low" to illustrate my point. My point only becomes more valid as his net worth increases.
Also I would guess that he arranged for this to go down. I doubt he got screwed over by some connecting flight like calvin ayres (sp?)

Hmm, Dikshit.
He's like one of the richest indians on the planet. His worth is estimated at around 1.75B.
That said, I'd still not fork over 300M as "punishment" over vague shit if I had 1.75B. I'd live off interest like a king in Bora-Bora, in a hammock next to the coconut cabin on a neverending beach with pina colada in my right hand and my left hand resting on quality imported booty.
I would use some of that dough to get a namechange pronto though. Something like "Andy Dean" or "Andreas d'Arcy" or whatever.
He was a citizen of Gibraltar at the time of the judgment, so it is unclear why he was in Manhattan and how he got convicted or arrested or whatever.
"OOOH, BUT WHAT HE DID WAS ILLEGAL"
Yeah, so is violating WTO agreements, and basically ignoring the fact that other countries run businesses too, and "selectively forgetting" that the world actually has 195 countries in it.
He's just posterchild used for scaring the shit out of operators of IG, this court case was simply probably used to set a precedent.
