Doesn't Mike Shanahan have to take some blame at some point for his apparent inability to hire a defensive coordinator? It seems like the Broncos fire DCs more often than the Raiders fire head coaches and their defense never gets any better. It comes across as Shanahan shifting the blame at this point IMO.

oh I agree.
But, shanahan could rape Pat Bowlens wife at this point, and Bowlen would look the other way.
They don't call him "Coach Teflon" over at PFT for nothing. While I do agree, that it's shanahans fault for a lot of what's going on wrong in Denver, I can only criticize the others in place if I know Shanny isn't going anywhere.
Love my Broncos, and Shanahan put together a couple of huge SB wins with a heck of a team, but the team was put together and maintained by a braintrust that was there BEFORE he became the Head Coach.
Wade Phillips was actually really good at picking people up to surround John Elway with.
