If you're playing, I'm barbara, or barbara83 (austria) in steam.

Also if someone wants to do team matches, that would be sweet.

In case you don't know what I'm talking about:

This was the first game I actually bought in a long time.
I used to play it over hamachi with friends, but when they dropped the price we just ordered a bulk.
Gameplay is perfect as you'd expect from the Halflife engine, Valve keeps bringing out updates to balance versus mode... It's definitely high on the list of best games I've played.

You can get new maps from the interwebs, but I've played the same maps dozens of times now... it doesn't really matter that much because of the nature of the game.

Like the review guy sais - you absoutely need to play it with voice communication. It's purely a team playing game. If you try it rambo style you'll get creamed before you know it.

For PC... I highly recommend to get the pc version for any first person shooter. I doubt they even play on the same network online because you have so much more control with a mouse that the x-box players would just get destroyed.
And it's purely an online game, there's no point in getting this if you're going to play single player or even without voice chat imo.

It's not very resource intensive. A friend of mine is playing it on a 5 year old pc without too much trouble. geforce 7800GT+ should be fine.

oskar, when do you play? Pretty much the only thing that has kept me from buying this is the fact that I dont know anyone who plays it. Playing a co-op only game with randoms is not a good idea imo.

weekdays around 18:00-23:00 gmt, but only once or twice a week... depending on if someones playinng that I know.

You can join groups and add buddies in steam, then you get a notification whenever someone you know is playing - hence this thread. You can join my group to start with... I think we're 8 so far.

Not really... I'm not much of a gamer. I tried a couple of games after I bought this pc two months ago.
Farcry2, Cryses left me unimpressed. Goregeous graphics, but they play like a tech demo.
Halflife Orange Box is worth every penny, if you don't have it already.
GTAIV is quite nice, but ridiculously resource intensive...

The only game I play right now besides l4d is IL2 sturmovik... best realistic air-combat simulation I've played so far... needs dedication though. Microsoft flight simulator plays like an arcade game in comparison... no joke.

Haven’t played farcry 2 yet. I’m not really into flight sims but whatever I need to play less anyways.

Omg I love portal so much. They should have made at least twice as many levels imo.

It’s good but waaaaaay too short. Also if kinda feels like it never got hard enough at the end. Like the end levels still feel like ‘practice’ or something. Awesome concept though.

…There is no cake.

I don't mind when they make games shorter, but put more into every minute of gameplay. Portal was easy, but it's still a great game. - I think they could have easily cut 1h of gameplay from HL Episode 2... and the final mission... that was a misstep. I was just glad I got it over with at that point.

Also: new update for l4d: survival mode. Zombis keep rushing in indefinitely and you have to defend.
