another school related post. This wont become a pattern, i promise. I jsut got a new 15" toshiba laptop. 6 pounds. love it. Im looking for a good laptop bag that isnt too expensive. Actually, im probaby willing to spend good money, since I want it to last 4 years, be really comfortable, and properly protect my investment. So scratch that. Nothing ridiculously high. Around $150-200 would be the highest id like to go.
So any reviews? Anyone own one thats really good?

I actually just got a laptop.. same size. I generally won't have to be lugging it around unless I need to take it somewhere like on a trip, but I'd like to have a bag for it as well. I'll probably just go up to best buy and pick something out. I'm sure others will have better advice.

I lug my laptop around for work a LOT. Get one that holds more crap than you think you'll ever be carrying around and as heavy duty as you can find. If it looks lightweight it probably is. What usually goes on them are the zippers and the strap hardware, so spend money on quality. Luggage stores usually carry better but more expensive stuff.

good post warpe, thats the kind of info i was looking for. Would never have guessed a luggage store would carry laptop bags. it now seems quite obv.
I commute to my university. Means alot of carrying shit around. First of all i want comfort. I will have alot of days where im tired, cranky, and wont want a bothersome object on my back. also has to last at least a few years. look decent. And protect the lappy of course

My wife has the same backpack (Targus) as bigred. Or maybe they share the same backpack and I just don't know it?
Either way, she loves it just as much as bigred does.

I think she got her backpack from Dick's Sporting Goods.

can you put a 15 inch laptop in a bag designed for a 17inch one? or will it move around too much or whatever?
same question for the notebook cases.

It's no biggie if the case is too big for your laptop, imo, but that targus site has a link for finding a "compatible" case:

I can vouch for the Targus. Cool design, more pockets, etc. I picked one up for $20 after rebate on a Thanksgiving weekend sale at Comp USA. Best deal for me that Christmas season.

A lot of the time they will have padding inserts that can turn it into a 15" slot but unfortunately we can only make laptop holes smaller and not UG's wife's.
oh snap
