Well, I got the news this morning. I was not offered a position with the company that's buying us ---- exactly what I wanted to happen. Sweet.
Oddly enough, I'm expected to work for the next two weeks until the closing date on the sale, so my last day will be Sept 14. I've got about 8-9 months of expenses banked away, and will be getting 8 weeks pay as severance, plus unemployment. So, I'm in pretty good shape financially.
My brother (roomie) got laid off too, so its really up in the air about what we're going to do. Could stay here in chicagoland, move back home to Kentucky, move out west, who knows. I've got plenty of time to decide.
Looking forward to just laying back for a few weeks and seeing how my game goes. I've got no delusions about going pro at this point, but it sure would be nice to build my roll up to the point where I could see some supplemental income. We'll see how that goes.

First time ever that I'll be collecting unemployment. What a concept. I can even apply online, and they have direct deposit, so I don't have to drag my ass downtown.

Yeah I got laid off about a month ago too (first time posting back since I retired from poker) and I'm collecting unenjoyment as well. I do miss the online poker stuff, hopefully if things come back to the US again the door could be open for me to play periodically (besides building my side online business).

Being unemployed is nice for poker because you can play in tournaments all day long. Working gets in the way of that. There is no worry of playing late into the night because of an early workday or starting a tourney and doing well only having to sitout to get to work in time

I was laid off about 3 months ago and havent been able to find work either. Such a drag looking for a job. And you dont even hear back from most places
