Hi,

This is my first post at FTR. I am new to Hold’em; I have been playing for about 6 weeks. In the last few weeks I have been reading the posts on this site and my play has improved greatly. For that I would like to thank all of the regulars on this site.

While I am at it, I'll ask a question. I don't have a lot of time to devote to playing and I am wondering if it would be more profitable to play ring games or SnG's? I have a winning record at both; although the amount of play of have done at either would not be a large enough sample to draw any conclusions from.

Right now, I am alternating between $10+$1 SnG’s at Empire and $25NL tables.
Thanks,
BreakfastMan

Hola,

Well, you can leave a ring game whenever so I'd assume it's easier on any sort of schedule you might have but also tilt will cost you more in ring games as you can drop buyin after buyin.

It's all up to personal preference. Which do you enjoy more?
And besides, there's no real reason to pick one over the other. You can play both.

Welcome to the boards.

You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.

It all depends, some people are extremely profitable playing SNG's while some people are profitable playing ring games. i think you should try both of them for a while to see on which one you do better. If you are good at both, then just play both, theres no problem with that.

Thanks for the advice. I think I am going to work on ring games for a bit. I seem to get to much of a rush from the rising blinds in Sng's and I make a few crazy plays.
Thanks,

This will follow you to any game. It's amazing how fast one will learn to break a bad habit when it costs money not to. 'Crazy plays' can be profitable if done at the right time and circumstance, particularly in NL 'fixed' entry games.
