So I finally got my Wii from pokerstars after a few months (they had some issues with their supplier).
Anyway, I don't have any idea what games are good and the only time I've ever played it was wii bowling once or twice. Anybody got any recommendations? what about a game to play with my gf (she wants to play tonight)?
also, any other accessories (e.g. another controller, batteries, wii guns) that i should get?

i got mine about 2 weeks ago from stars, and i bought zelda, metroid 3, and smash brawl. i really recommend zelda and smash. both really fun. i havent really played metroid very much so i cant tell you much about it, other than its a fps and so far its fun.
i also bought an extra controller and nun chuck, as well as a classic controller.
estimated total: way too much.

my buddy got a wii and my favorite thing about it was the old games he downloaded with wii points(mostly played the SNES version of Bomberman, awesomely addicting when you got friends over who are competitive but don't feel like complicated games)
you can also get old super mario bros games etc, so thats my recommendation outside of the reg wii games

mario party sucks, don't buy it (rent it instead if you really feel the need to play it). super mario galaxy is pretty good and so is brawl.
yeah not much selection for the wii. luckily i'm content just playing brawl over and over again.

Lol, I asked her if we could go and get a PS3 instead for the Blu Ray and she told me to go screw myself, lol.
PS3 is the best option for Blu-Ray players right now in my book. So many more features rather than just a stand alone player.

People around me are not allowed to buy me electronical/technical tings and I wish they would stop asking me what I think about something after they buy it. Since it usualy forces me to either lie or be an asshole.

explain the blu-ray profiles or the ps3 thing? here's an explanation of blu-ray profiles...http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...Explained/1186. the ps3's firmware updates also update the ps3's blu-ray profile when there's a new one. most standalone blu-ray players are stuck with the profile they shipped with.

Just out of curiosity, are there plans for any 3rd party Blu-Ray Players for the 360?
There was a whole big PS3 vs 360 debate over on Sherdog forums. It seems like Live and the Game Library are what's holding the 360 steady currently.

There were rumors a couple months back, but currently it doesn't look like blu-ray will make it to the 360 any time soon. Microsoft may push for an online vid store in the future though, which still sounds kinda sucky imo.

Hmm....Online HiDef downloads. Seems like it would take up too much room on the Hard Drives. I also wonder if playback would give the same quality as a disc would?
I'll probably just stick with my laptop gaming and get a stand alone player. I really don't see myself playing any console games ever again. PC games just give you way more in terms of flexibility and cutomization. WSAD for life!

currently i don't see how it's practical. the downloads would take ages, and the storage space required would be nuts. uncompressed 1080p blu-ray rips are like 50gb's. the playback would be fine once downloaded.

i highly suggest the ps3 bc it's the cheapest player and it can always be updated to the latest profile. i just did a search at bestbuy.com and there are 3 other players at $400 with the ps3 and none that are cheaper. the ps3 also has a hard drive (which can easily be upgraded with another standard 2.5 hd) and supports the h264 video codec and can play vids straight from the hard drive or a flash drive.

Got a Wii from my wife for my birthday yesterday. I didn't ask for it but I was very pleased with it. I don't play many games usually but the social aspect of the console made me want to have a Wii over the X360 or PS3.
I just bought Resident Evil 4, Super Smash Mario Bros & Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess which hopefully arrive soon.
Any other games or accessories I should look out for? My wife really likes the idea of the WiiFit. Anyone has this add-on yet?

The second choice applies here. I told my wife a long time ago that unless I specifically say I "WANT" something, never to buy it. She was a victim of the Nintendo hype machine while shopping and remembered an off the cuff remark I had made.
