Wow...
So this morning i get a DHL delivery bright and early.
Judge Judy is offering to fly me and a friend (witness) out to cali and pay us a certain amount of money (i doubt much) to do my small claims case on national television.
I never sent her anything , i only filed for a case at the district court.
So they must have access to all small claims courts.
This is kinda weird but im considering it.
The case is for a big screen t.v.. Me and a friend of mine moved into this females basement and when i moved out her and her boyfriend refused to give me my t.v. back. There was a $300 cable bill that they said i had to pay first. I offered $100 but they wouldn't take it. I was only responsible for $100 worth of pornos ordered. My other roomate and the random people at the house ordered the rest.
So it would be a little weird being on national t.v. argueing about porn bills.
Any thoughts?

Yeah that's another issue . In the letter they claim a lot of the time at local civil courts it can be a hassle collecting money owed. They say i'm guarenteed my guap within 30 days if i win the case , which i think i will.

The cases on Judge Judy and similar shows are not like real court. Essentially, they're paying you to drop your case. Suppose your TV is worth $1,000 and the defendant countersues for the $300 cable bill. The network will pool $1,300 which will be awarded to the winner. Or the "judge" could award you $1,000 and the defendant $300, or if she throws the case out you get $650 each.

Since Judge Judy doesn't have any real authority, she can't order anybody to give your TV back. You may want to consider how you would feel about letting them keep your TV, but being compensated for it by the network.

And I watch porno too and I'm not particularly ashamed of it, but I wouldn't want to go on television and discuss it. However, in this situation I would probably do it. I hear that in real small claims court that it's a pain in the ass to collect your settlement when you win (unless you sue a business).

Oh, and if you do decide to go through with it, don't be like all the other morons that talk about documents and evidence but "I left it at home".

I'd think about what uncomfortable questions Judge Judy could ask you, esp. about watching porn, and rehearse some good reponses, so you don't look like a total perv on national TV.

I always think it would be awesome if some who was an actual lawyer went on that show as a defendant or whatever and just destroyed her. Her lines like "No! I don't believe you because you look like a liar!" problem wouldn't hold up to well against his arguments.

I saw one where a guy presented his county's lawbook and Judy said, "I don't care! That's a stupid law." These TV court shows aren't held to any legal standards. She can rule against you because she doesn't like the way you comb your hair.

btw, one of my best friends absolutely loves the Judge Judy show for some reason. he likes the way she puts people in their places and totally destroys them on national tv.

anyway, he's got this bad ass memorabilia room in his basement with autographs, jerseys, game balls, helmets, etc, and on one of the walls is his prized Judge Judy photo that is autographed.

I'm a closet Judge show fan. You should really go on it, for all the reasons already mentioned, and also put that woman in her place regardless of her demeanor.

I hate to sound repetative, but only go on if you think you'll win, otherwise closet Judge show fans will think you're a dweeb. Just remember not to interrupt, man that pisses me off.

A friend of mine went on the show a while back and said she was acting in terms of hating her best friend. free trip nukkah!
