I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

getting the following error message over and over again:
Your username is invalid.
Connect with your real username, in lowercase.
If your mail address were foo@bar.com, your username would be foo.
See http://www.mirc.co.uk/help/servererrors.html for further information.

It's not so much that windows sucks monkey balls - it's the users recommending retarded programs.
Why in gods name would you recommend an IRC client that is expiring after 30 days if you don't buy it - secondly that damn thing won't stop trying to connect to the server, which I apparently got wrong - but my only options are OK/retry or "help" when I want to CANCEL
do I really need to bring up the task manager to stop this retarded program?
Now seriously - what's a good IRC client?
On an unrelated note - the howto video is down.
---edit---
Just found out that there's an Xchat port for Windows.
http://www.xchat.org/
Connecting with Xchat is easy. When it starts up you put in a user name of your choice, go to the server window.
You need to put in your full name, otherwise it won't let you connect. The standard port worked fine.
server irc.thundercity.net
After you clicked connect, it will open another window where you can specify which room you want to connect, which is:
#flopturnriver
If anyones interested, I could write a short howto with screenshots.

If you don't have a username and password from nickserv on thundercity then don't put one.

mIRC doesn't expire after 30 days if you don't buy it, despite what the window that you get when you start it. I've been using my copy for well over 200 days now. Also, if it wont stop trying to connect then you simply disconnect, oskar. It's not the program's fault that you don't know anything about it.
The howto video is down because I accidentally deleted it a couple of days ago, so I guess people will have to make do with the step-by-step instructions that hold your hand through the entire process.
Maybe you should take a little while to examine why you're lashing out.

Sorry, wasn't directed to you but the program. Which I still think sucks. Even if it's unexpiring, I think for howto's it should go: OSS > freeware > shareware, and there are a ton of open source alternatives. XChat should meet pretty much everyones needs, and pidgin is probably even better for the casual user.

Never mind, posting in this thread has magically fixed the problem. Still, if there's anything wrong with those settings feel free to point it out.

Is this still going?
Maybe advertise the fact that you can get free porn site passwords on there, might motivate people to download the software.

Does anyone know of a way to access IRC when my work firewall has port 6660 blocked? Is there an online irc relay that goes through port 80 or something?

Hey all, as most of you know I kind of disappeared from irc because of some people who didn't see eye to eye with me i guess. For those of you that liked talking to me and had good conversations regarding poker, feel free to add me on skype under "kfuse14". I have 0 interest in coming back and I know there are some people who don't want me to, I just thought i'd say this here to give some of the people I liked talking to a chance to add me to skype. I've been working very hard at my game with great results and some of us have had some great conversations about poker, so if you have any interest in doing that again plz hit me up. Peace all, glgl.

I am still having trouble connecting. I can't get MIRC nor the Java applet to work.
[23:06] Connecting...
[23:07] Unable to connect : null
[23:07] Connecting...
[23:07] Error : Not connected
[23:07] Unable to connect : null
[23:07] Connecting...
[23:07] Unable to connect : null
[23:07] Error : Not connected
[23:07] Error : Not connected
And MIRC won't connect anymore no matter what port number I try.
It just says connecting... then times out eventually.

For those looking for a lightweight, easy to use client with firefox: chatzilla
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16/
Links onto your tool dropdown in ff, i have it set so when it opens it's directly into the ftr room. Very easy to use and stable.

You may need to be persistent. It's a fairly tinpot server and sometimes takes me up to ten tries before it connects.

UPDATE: 9/17/2010
It looks like mIRC has started expiring when it wasn't before, and the thundercity.net website isn't working lately, so here are instructions for using IceChat:
Go download IceChat: IceChat IRC Client :: IRC Client Extra-Ordinaire :: The Chat Cool People Use
When it comes up when you run it, on the left click the Add New button and put in irc.thundercity.net, then choose irc.thundercity.net from the list and click connect. It will connect and you'll do /join #flopturnriver like normal, etc.
