How many marines do you know? How many people do you know who have faught in Iraq? I know several. The people in this story are all going to be punished - What more do you want? If I were you, I would post articles about the president...Its the president who sent all of our troops here...He is the one who won't pull out of a futile war because he's so stubborn he just will not ever admit he was wrong -
But please keep posting these...The massacre at Haditha - You know the reporter who wrote that story diddn't even know what that was called? It's called a death blossom and what happens is after a troop goes through an area and is attacked a couple times, they warn everyone in the area...In that case they had warned them 3 times...After they were attacked again THEN they retaliated against the village...But the story makes it out to be like they are just crazy mother fuckers looking to kill young kids and shit - What do you think the news is going to report? They only report stuff that is contoversial...even when they don't have a clue what they are talking about....

I did my time as infantry (11C1P), and my best friend is shipping out to Afghanistan this week after getting called back up and almost losing the chance to graduate college ("...needs of the army..." and all that).
I think I've got a right to voice the opinion that Iraq is a cluster-fuck, is/was mismanaged, and that we've got no business being there. Hell, I called BS on a forum I run back when they were still spinning WMDs as a justification because we weren't acting as if we had evidence of WMD stockpiles.
It's crap. We don't belong. Stop throwing our infantry into what appears to be a poorly thought out no-win situation (at least as we're playing it -- if you wanna "win" it then partition it into Kurdistan, Sunnistan, and Shiistan -- knowing it'll soon be annexed by Iran -- and end the conflict that way.)
As is, Iraq is a long-term -EV play. Quitting sooner is the better play here.

I have a friend over there right now. So what? Does it make my argument more valid if I know someone who's fighting in Iraq?
These incidents are symptoms of a disease- the disease being an illegal war being perpetrated for unjust reasons. We have no right to be over there, and although we may win the battles, we will never win the war. Do you see why?

i guess all i mean to say is that all your posts are against the soldiers...I am against the war and I feel like we have no business being there - But i am 100% behind the troops - They have 2 choices - Either go, or refuse to go and get court martialed...So I cannot sit here and say they are murderers...I'm sure the war dept. would love to hush every single one of these stories, because its nothing but bad publicity - But for the several thousands of troops over there, we don't get many of these bad stories - when we do it becomes a huge deal -
I don't know - Maybe this war is our eras vietnam...But no matter what, you can't say it's the troops fault...They don't have much choice

the problem is that there really ARE WMD's - North Korea has a nuclear weapon that can hit as far as seattle...And here we are fighting insurgents...You know what an insurgent even is? It's a citizen that can't stand it's country being invaded...It's what I would probably be if we got invaded by China or something....anyway -
The stupidest thing is that the war in iraq has zero relevance to our safety - there are at least 2 other countries who actually ARE real threats, and we do nothing about them -

No revelation here, but seems like greatest value of U.S. military might is in the threat of its deployment, not its actual "flexing of muscles" (Vietnam, Iraq).
Why would anyone (Iran/N Korea) actually consider using WMD's on US soil?
This would trigger the instantaneos incineration of their civilization (see Japan WWII).
