Battery life for just music is fine although a daily charge is good for you. You can get about 1.5hrs of video life though. I was watching an ep of Smallville one day, my friend couldn't even finish a replay of it

Recharge it every other day or so and you should be fine.
Battery life for videos does suck. I watched an hour long video of gabe's mom and my ipod was like dead.

Try to buy it somewhere that you can also buy AppleCare for it. It's like an extra $60, but it covers like every damn thing that would happen to the bastard for 2 or 3 years, I don't remember which.

Dont buy one just yet. New video ipods are coming out soon that will have a 4" wide-screen that covers almost the entire device. The scroll wheel will be "virtual" and only apear on screen when you touch it.
