I had a question for some of the people more involved with the stock market and other investment opportunities. Since I have recently pulled down some pretty large winnings, and plan to keep doing so, I would like a place to put some of my money to stash away for a long while, 10-15 years. Any suggestions?

I'd PM elipsesjeff or boondocksaint, they seem knowledgable, plus jeff is a cool ACC major.

Honestly, no offense to the guys who posted in the investment thread, but would you go to a finance message board to learn how to play poker? If not, then why would you go a poker message board to learn about investing?
Maybe read some books or speak with a financial advisor?

I think it makes sense, every week there is a new person on ftr making a large sum of money that they have no clue what to do with. There are definatley people on here that invest thier winnings, or just invest independantly. And therefore its related, and relevent. But of course you wouldnt learn poker at an invest forum, why? Becaue that is not logical. Its just like, it makes sense to have an elefant in the circus but not a circus in the safari. Not everything has to be backwards compatable.

It all depends on your risk tolerance and what kind of return you are looking for.

Considering others on this site have won money, and subsequently invested it, I thought this forum would be a decent place to look. This is the general forum as well, where people post anything. There are several posts daily on things that have no relation what so ever to poker. I'm not looking for huge investment ideas where I need to sign up for a financial advisor or get professional, I was thinking more like signing up to TDWaterhouse and buying a few stocks. Any suggestions.
